Pay : $24.35 per hour

We are hiring for a Safety Coordinator in our Kansas City, Kansas manufacturing facility. At Tempur Sealy, ensuring a safe working environment for the associates and managers within our manufacturing sites is our number one priority.

What You’ll Do :

  • Serve as designated Safety Coordinator for the assigned manufacturing site.
  • Assist the site leadership in the coordination and implementation of the Tempur Sealy Safety Program as directed by site leadership and the Regional Safety Manager
  • Serve as a safety role model and be an inspiration to others
  • Conduct training and coach associates on observed work habits in support of this effort
  • Support management’s efforts to ensure compliance with corporate Safety Program expectations and applicable federal and state law.
  • Identify and be part of the team that will address compliance issues, safety risks and improvement opportunities through the completion of daily, weekly and monthly audits
  • Partner and coach leadership on the incident investigation process
  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly and monthly metrics reporting to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems
  • Maintain required paperwork to comply with Tempur Sealy standards
  • Provide (or facilitate access to) immediate aid for associates, visitors, vendors, or guests that need assistance, or medical attention
  • Perform safety observations (FSI) & audits as required by the Regional Safety Manager and TSI Safety Policies
  • Conduct monthly ergonomic assessments and suggest improvements to processes and workstation design to reduce ergonomic risk
  • Conduct new employee safety orientation / training and annual re-certification
  • Conduct on-site authorized training with plant employees as required
  • Develop safety related information for monthly All Employee meeting
  • Actively facilitate monthly Associate Safety Committee
  • Participation in weekly safety calls for weekly staffing meetings held by corporate EHS
  • Identify opportunities and suggest actions to improve site recycling efforts and to reduce energy usage

Requirements

What You’ll Need :

Basic Qualifications :

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel
  • Proficiency in keyboarding, web search, using online programs
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; self- driven
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to maintain current First aid and CPR certificates
  • Existing knowledge or willingness to learn and administer emergency response
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and / or personnel issues
  • Ability to successfully complete and maintain OSHA 30-hour certification
  • Strong influence, teamwork, analysis, judgment, customer focus skills and the ability to train groups of associates
  • Ability and success with analyzing incident data and creating meaningful actions with lasting results
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications & Skills :

  • Basic understanding of OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910
  • Understanding of Worker’s Compensation case management, OSHA recordability guidelines and RTW processes
  • Microsoft PowerPoint knowledge
  • Some college or relevant experience preferably in a safety related or technical field

Qualifications :

  • Fully understands all manufacturing processes. Improves manufacturing efficiency through the elimination of waste. Propels growth of production output through significantly improved efficiency of equipment and personnel.

Maintains proper adherence to ISO, HAZMAT, and corporate standards at all times.

  • Works cooperatively with DMP Engineering and Product Management to integrate new products and processes into manufacturing.
  • Maintains organized test documents, product schematics and parts lists, revision upgrades, test fixture documentation, test software listings and revision history.
