This position plays a critical role in ensuring all staff stays on task and complete all assignments to ServiceMaster standards.
There will be a heavy expectation for the candidate to have strong experience and expertise in floor work and equipment maintenance.
To be successful in this role, you should also have a good understanding of cleaning principles and team management abilities.
Responsibilities
Hands-On Working Area Supervisor Position
PRIMARY FUNCTION
To train and supervise cleaning at assigned premises by cleaning crews; provide support to Operations Manager in overseeing assigned area.
Clean facilities when coverage is needed
- Follow up with Customer to assure we met the customer’s expectation with our timeliness and adequate resolution of previous issues
- Ensure crew shows up on time and properly utilizes equipment and supplies
- Conduct Spot Inspections when necessary and complete all Scheduled Inspections based on pre-determined frequencies for the assigned buildings;
communicate issues found to the Operations Manager and establish a plan to correct the issues
- Assure that all detail and non-frequent cleaning tasks are scheduled and performed
- Make sure employees are well versed in our processes and procedures
- Work in communication and provide support to the Operations Manager to execute the assignments that are delegated.
- Deliver supplies and products required onsite.
- Lead safety discussions and show strong safety leadership while on location
- Regularly meet with crew to rear concerns and provide constructive feedback
- Check assigned employee times daily and ensure employees are working scheduled hours, report any issues to Operations Manager daily
- Submit weekly plans for facility coverage to the Operations Manager by the assigned date
- Make minor repairs on equipment such as floor scrubbers, golf carts, burnishers, roto’s, vacuums, etc and coordinate all major equipment repairs to Equipment Repair Company along with following through to ensure repairs are completed.
- Ensure all floor work and projects are completed up to expectations and participating in critical jobs to ensure successful completion.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE :
The Area Supervisor is performing satisfactorily when :
- The portfolio of accounts are in good standing where the customer is satisfied with the cleaning of the building
- No missed cleanings assignments occur with the exception of extreme weather preventing travel to the facilities and approved by Operations Manager.
- One concern per month or less are received from customer directly to the office and identified concerns are corrected within 24 hours. No missed cleanings occur
- Coordinate with Operations Manager to ensure Crew is appropriately counselled or disciplined (including sending an employee home) for insubordination, unexcused attendance issues, and unacceptable performance or conduct.
These written records are filed in employee file within 24 hours.
- Complete all scheduled inspections and tasks assigned throughout the month unless excused by management.
- All employees are working assigned hours and timekeeping corrections are submitted prior to the end of the pay period
- All Floor Work and Projects are completed up to ServiceMaster’s expectations without any customer complaints
- Equipment Repair costs stay within budget
- Weekly Plans are completed on time
- There are no surprises at Office from customer regarding breakage or major omissions in performance.
- 6 years’ experience as a custodian, janitor, housekeeper
- 5 years’ experience as a Floor Tech
- 5 years' supervisor experience
- Will provide on the job training to those with strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Experience working for a professional janitorial company, office complex, hotel, hospital or school is a plus.
- The ability to be flexible, work at a fast-paced and in a multi-tasked job is a must.
- Contribute to a positive work climate with a pleasant attitude and contribute to the overall team effort including being in uniform, dependable and on time
- Has respect and understanding for co-workers and customers
- Must be able to communicate in English. Bilingual is a plus

Physical Demands and Qualifications :
Constant (up to 100%) standing, walking, pushing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching over head, reaching forward.
Must be able to lift and and / or carry 25lbs.

Night Shift Shop Janitorial Helper
Night Shift Shop Janitorial Helper (Temp-to-Hire) Pay : $11.50-$13.00 + $1.00 for every hour worked for night shift Location : Houston 77032 Shift : 2 : 30pm-11pm, 4 : 30pm-2 : 30am, or 6pm-6am (depending on need) Gather trash, take it to the dumpster(s) Sweep shop and shavings around the machines and put them in the proper recycle bins.
Clean machines when needed. Move material around as needed. Some grinding for deburring of metal products using a portable electric grinder, sanding paper, etc.
Some light touch-up painting. Gather and recycle the used absorbent pads (oils and waters from machines), used hydraulic oils / waters from machines, grinding sludge from machines.
Place material in 55-gallon drums for staging before pick up. Must be safety conscious and wear appropriate gloves and PPE.
Steel toe boots required. Be willing to assist other night shift employees and lear new tasks. Have the ability to move around the entire facility (front office and shop) through out the shift.
