ROLE
Performs the full array of duties related to the cleaning of assigned properties and performs other related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
- Performs cleaning of properties to ensure a clean and safe presentation and environment.
- Visually inspects properties for graffiti, posters, abandoned materials, damage, weeds, and any items requiring attention.
- Performs cleaning duties safely, correctly, and on-time.
- Reviews route book for re-schedules, starts, and service holds at the commencement of each shift. Completes daily route book, including start and stop time for each stop on route.
- Ensures all cleaning supplies are stored safely in appropriate areas after use.
- Maintains all equipment, including brooms, cleaning supplies, trash cans and company vehicle.
- Monitors security of buildings served and reports any security violations to supervisor.
- Reports the need for any major repairs or on-calls to supervisor.
- Assists other route crews as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to qualify is :
- One year of janitorial or similar experience.
- Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations.
- High school diploma, GED preferred.
- Valid drivers’ license with clean driving record.

Program Description
The Inn Enhanced Shelter Program provides 24 / 7 enhanced shelter and related services for adults experiencing homelessness.
Referrals to the program come from King County Coordinated Entry program. Participants are typically people who been identified as high needs adults who are eligible for supportive permanent housing.
Many clients have chronic and acute mental illness, active addiction issues, and / or trauma. This is a low-barrier, harm reduction program.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine scheduled cleaning duties : sweep, mop, and wash walls. Clean bathrooms, food serving area, and other common areas to building standards.
- Restock soap, paper towel dispensers and other supplies. Assist with communicating inventory needs.
- Pack, label, and store previous client belongings.
- Prepare vacant rooms for use including packing up items and thorough cleaning according to prescribed procedures.
- Maintain clean exterior of building.
- Remove garbage and recycling from building following all safe trash removal protocol. Wash trash cans.
- Regularly lift and carry supplies, donations, furnishings, etc.
- Assist Advocacy staff members in floor checks and unit inspections as needed.
- Assist Advocate and Case management staff in ensuring occupied units meet health and quality standards. As identified, participate in joint clean up and / or hoarding safety efforts.
- Enforce building and program rules including bar policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
General Responsibilities
- Observe / follow guidelines on confidentiality rights of residents and respect their privacy.
- Alert management team members to non-maintenance and housekeeping areas of concern.
- Be willing and able to be on-call after hours / weekends for emergency security / building related calls.
- Maintain accurate record of hours worked and turn in timesheets or complete ADP entries on schedule.
- Attend trainings required of employees and staff meetings as scheduled.

Job Conditions
This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material.
Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, bedbugs, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance, building temperature fluctuations, dust, noise, and odors.

Summary
The janitor will be responsible for performing general cleaning duties, and maintaining the showroom and warehouse clean.
Compensation : This is a non-exempt, hourly role. Hourly rates start at $17.00+, plus Over Time (paid at 1.5x), plus Bonuses.
Annual pay for new hires generally ranges between $36,360 and $54,770 or more, depending on experience, overtime hours worked and bonuses.
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to complete the following essential duties and responsibilities :
- Perform general cleaning of all areas including the showroom and warehouse.
- Clean the restrooms, and replenish the stalls with toilet paper.
- Empty the trash from both the office and warehouse locations.
- Clean the building floors by sweeping, mopping and using the sweeper machine.
- Responsible for replenishing the maintenance supplies in the stock room.
- Perform minor repairs as needed.

PAY RANGE : $19.41-20.51 per hour

Responsibilities :
- Perform and schedule routine janitorial and light maintenance of common areas, grounds maintenance, garbage removal and weeding, replacing locks and light bulbs, performing minor carpentry and painting.
- Respond to light maintenance or cleaning emergencies as needed.
- Respond to shelter clients’ concerns and questions regarding the building’s cleanliness and report maintenance needs to the Special Projects Manager.
- Inspect the building’s interior and exterior each work day for graffiti, damage, lighting not working and any apparent safety hazards.
- Assist the Special Projects Manager with site inspections, at time of turnover or as needed, helping to create work requests for maintenance needs.

- Complete LIHI work orders for all non-routine cleaning and grounds work. Also use work requests to document all repair and non-routine work.
