Job Description

Allied Universal Janitorial Services is seeking the position of Janitor.

Pay rate 14.50 / Hour

As a Janitor for Allied Universal Janitorial Services, you will be responsible for cleaning and servicing our client’s property to keep it in the best shape possible.

You will also assist patrons or customers in a friendly and engaging manner when requested to do so.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent for full time positions.
• Certain positions may require successful completion of a background investigation and a drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Effective communication skills with customer, patrons, and employees- assisting others in a friendly and engaging manner at all times.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability on completing tasks that can be repetitive.
• Able to :
• Work in various working conditions and environments such as cold weather, rain / snow or heat for extended periods.
• Ability to operate various cleaning equipment and machinery including scrubbers, pressure washer, and carpet extractor.
• Ability to climb ladders, stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry items and / or machinery up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to grab, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, and operate equipment frequently and repetitively during working hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily sanitation and deep cleaning of the restaurant, floors, bathrooms and grounds.
• Empty and properly dispose of all trash.
• Work with management team to address maintenance needs inside and outside of the restaurant.
• Properly handle cleaning chemicals following all safety guidelines and procedures. This includes safe use, storage and disposal of chemicals.

Alert management when cleaning supplies need to be reordered.

• Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and laws including health and safety standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the management team.

Cleaner / Janitor Description :

Engaging in building security and safety activities (checking and locking doors, checking electrical appliance)

Moving equipment, supplies, and furniture

Informing managers about required repair and maintenance activities

Maintaining tools and equipment needed for Cleaner / Janitor duties

Requiring supplies of the tools and equipment needed for Cleaner / Janitor duties

Organizing and executing spraying of fumigant and insecticides

Cleaner / Janitor Job Requirements :

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

Must have proven working experience as Cleaner / Janitor

Must know and follow sanitation procedures

Must be able to respond and act quickly

Specific Requirements :

• Run floor scrubber and floor buffer as needed.
• Empty plant floor trash containers and advise maintenance manager when the trash dumpster is full.
• Empty all cardboard containers on the plant floor and take cardboard to the recycle dumpster outside the facility.
• Sweeps plant floor daily removing dust from the plant floor.
• Assists in cleaning up chemical spills as required. Follows safety guidelines in doing this task.
• Monitor supplies of floor cleaner, trash bags, and floor buffer scrubber pads, and makes maintenance manager aware of when these supplies need to be restocked.
• Reports all spills, leaks, equipment malfunctions, and safety hazards to the production supervisor and / or the maintenance manager.

Background Requirements :

• Five (5) years directly related experience.
• Must be capable of wearing Company standard respirators as qualified by a fit test performed by an authorized agency.
• Must be willing and able to pass a pre-employment drug test and physical.
• Forklift Certification preferred.
