PURPOSE
The janitor is responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. Vacuums and buffs floors, shampoo carpets, empty trash receptacles, and replace the lining of trash cans.
DUTIES & RESPONSABILITIES
- Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, etc)
- Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
- Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects
- Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
- Make adjustments and minor repairs
- Stock and maintain supply rooms
- Cooperate with the rest of the staff

Janitor is a team player who provides clean affordable housing to the residents of the community. The Janitor / Housekeeper will work with maintenance staff to coordinate a cleaning schedule.

City Colleges of Chicago is looking to fill a Janitor opening to perform all traditional janitorial work in and around the buildings.
The maintenance department provides the cleaning and disinfecting services to maintain a well-functioning and safe facility that is conductive to a quality learning and work environment for all who encounter the Harold Washington Campus.
The Janitor Services department provides general cleaning to the building's interior / exterior areas per a focus-driven strategy. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Dust all ledges, counter tops, files, office equipment, desk and walls.
- Dust mop all hard surfaces.
- Spot cleaning or complete washing of all walls, files, desk tops, office glass, partitions, doors, chairs, blackboards, mirrors, waste baskets and garbage cans, office machines and ash trays.
- Thorough cleaning of all bathroom fixtures and partitions.
- Polishing furniture.
- Metal polishing.
- Hosing and sweeping of sidewalks.
- Trash removal.
- Dismantling and cleaning of light fixtures.
- Operation of vacuum cleaners.
- Cleaning of Venetian blinds (washing & vacuuming).
- Policing of facility and grounds (inside & outside).
- Washing of exterior walls.
- Scraping of gum and other objects form hard surfaces and carpet.

- Operation of compactors and / or balers.

Helper C Janitor
We are looking for a talented Helper C Janitor to join our team!
The Helper C Janitor will help maintain the physical condition of the community and equipment according to company guidelines and standards, and will protect the community and equipment from damage, loss and deterioration.
This position conducts preventative maintenance, performs janitorial duties, landscaping and service requests.
How you will contribute to our team :
Service Requests : You will be assigned service requests at your manager’s discretion and you will ensure they are completed professionally and accurately within twenty-four (24) hours, which may include scheduling an appropriate vendor if necessary.
You will accurately update the status in the system or to your manager as directed.
- Preventive Maintenance : You will perform and execute preventive maintenance service requests as directed by your manager.
- Property Inspections and Maintenance : You will perform regular property inspections to ensure compliance with established standards regarding the grounds, risk management, safety, cleanliness and general appearance, including cleanliness and landscaping requests.
- Resident Relations : As a front line employee who interacts very regularly with our residents, you will work to establish and maintain good relations with residents, prospective residents, all customers, vendors and co-workers.
You will use your communication skills to interact in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Occupancy Management : You will ensure apartments are ready for occupancy in accordance with leasing needs and as outlined in the Waterton Residential Standards of Performance.
This includes but is not limited to move out / move in inspections, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, appliance repair, carpet cleaning / replacement, painting, equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance and cleaning.
Maintain Commitment to Safety : You and your team will maintain life safety equipment including but not limited to fire pumps, sprinklers, emergency generators, fire panels, smoke detectors, CO detectors, etc.
including testing equipment as required. You will ensure there is a safe, clean and organized work environment (i.e. shop, pool maintenance room, storage areas).
You will utilize all reasonable safety measures and precautions.
