The Holiday Inn Resort is part of Landry's Hotel Division and is located on the beach on Galveston Island. The property has 178 guest rooms featuring refrigerators and flat-screen televisions, complimentary cable television and wireless internet.
Other amenities include an outdoor pool and fitness center and lounge and a three meal restaurant.
The Housekeeping Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of guest corridors, elevators and all assigned areas.
He / she is also responsible for delivering items to guest rooms (luggage, irons, coffee etc.) and assisting room attendants when necessary.
Qualification Standards
Education & Experience :
- High School diploma or equivalent and / or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license for applicable state (property specific).
Physical requirements :
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Heavy work Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and or 20 pounds of force consistently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Mental Requirements :
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Must be able to multi task.
- Must routinely meet deadlines.
Duties & Functions
Essential :
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
- Comply at all times with standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Ensure that employees are at all times attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
- Ensure implementation of all policies and Code of Conduct as specified in the Associate Handbook.
- Walk assigned floors at beginning and end of shift; remove newspapers, trays, empty ash urns, remove trash and / or linens and note any areas that need immediate cleaning.
- Use proper two-way radio etiquette at all times when communicating with other associates.
- Use daily checklist to complete projects listed below as assigned.
- Elevator lobbies
- Ash urns
- Glass tables
- Furniture
- Ice machines / vending machines
- Elevator doors / frames
- Service landing / linen closets
- Stair wells
- Polish floors
- Other projects as assigned by management
- Practice safe work habits to ensure safety to guests, fellow employees and self.
- Handle items for lost and fond according to the hotel standards.
- At the end of the shift, turn in all keys and assignment sheets to the Housekeeping office.
- Report maintenance issues to Housekeeping Supervisor / Manager.
- Be familiar with correct guestroom cleaning procedures to assist with cleaning if needed.
- Pick up any Room Attendant’s dirty linen or trash as needed.
- Before leaving section, collect all trash from the service landings and take to / dispose in outside trash dumpsters per hotel procedures.
- Vacuum guest corridors.
- Assist Housekeeping as needed (i.e. bedboards, roll-aways, stripping linens, returning glass ware to kitchen, flip beds, etc.)
Marginal :
- Deliver any clean linen to assigned sections, if applicable.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of Housekeeping Office, linen rooms, storage closets and strairwells.
- Attend meetings / training as required by management.
- Perform other duties as requested from management.

How You’ll Shine :
A Housekeeper will support general resort operations by cleaning resort units and maintaining resort quality standards. This individual will be responsible for cleaning the resort units to include sleeping quarters, kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms as well as maintain and adhere to housekeeping detail standards.

Housekeeping Team Member - Gold's Gym.
Responsibilities
Housekeepers perform any combination of light cleaning duties to maintain gym and offices, in a clean and orderly manner.
They work under the direction of the Gym Operations Manager. Some of the various duties housekeepers have include :
- Cleans outside glass
- Wipes down equipment, doors and floors as necessary
- Empties trash receptacles daily
- Sweeps and mops floors / stairwells / staircases
- Cleans carpets and floors as needed
- Changes light bulbs as necessary
- Cleans all fitness equipment, bathrooms (tile, tub, walls and sink), mirrors and glass
- Dusts furniture and fixtures daily
- Cleans the management office daily
- Mops and sweeps lobby floors
- Cleans the locker room (sweeps, mops, trash removal, dusts, cleans out lint); buffs locker / lobby room floor
- Maintains and organizes mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners and other equipment / supplies in good condition in designated storage areas
- Picks up debris on carpet and vacuums carpet
- Replaces or adds required supplies in locker rooms
- Stocks carts with linens and supplies and organizes cart as trained and required
- Cleans vacuum cleaner bags or canister daily
- Reports maintenance problems in an accurate and timely matter
Qualifications & Requirements
At least three (3) months experience in housekeeping or janitorial services and three (3) months customer service experience desired;
experience in hospitality or health clubs is a plus
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Must have excellent organization, interpersonal and time management skills
- Must have proven ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously
- Must be able to collaborate and work as part of a team in a professional manner
