  • The Director of Environmental & Permitting shall lead and manage all aspects of the E&P department, including but not limited to managing budgets, employees, business development, project management, and project development support;
  • serve as the central point of contact for all E&P-related activities for all renewable technologies (Onshore Wind, Solar, Battery Storage);

provide delivery of mapping solutions for routine E&P projects by coordinating all aspects of assigned projects with regard to deliverables, lead permitting and environmental compliance for early to late stage development projects.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop environmental study and permitting strategies in consultation with Project Developers and technical staff.
  • Coordination of environmental consultants to conduct various environmental surveys including preparation of scopes of work, assistance with requests for proposals, and review of reports / permit applications.
  • Prepare milestone schedules, budgets and staffing recommendations to complete permitting and compliance.
  • Develop CapEx and OpEx estimates for projects.
  • Provide support for project financing efforts.
  • Represent the company in meetings with state and federal resource agencies.
  • Participate in internal meetings with management and report on identified environmental / permitting issues.
  • Conduct environmental and permitting due diligence on potential sites and acquisition opportunities.
  • Participate in industry groups focused on environmental / wildlife issues and report activities to the larger team.
  • Travel to project sites to participate in agency meetings, micrositing efforts, etc.
  • Coordinate, Communicate, and Collaborate with various departments and project managers on any E&P issues or questions.
  • Communicate complex technical issues both verbally and in writing to non-technical E&P users.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of E&P project team staff in a manner that is conducive to independent judgment, high performance, and personal accountability..
  • Provide training, and coaching, assign tasks, and monitor the quality and quantity of work for the E&P team.
  • Work in a team setting and provide mentorship of junior staff members to identify effective ways to complete various development projects.

Desired Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years experience as a E&P Director, E&P Manager, or similar supervisory position with professional-level experience.
  • Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experexperienceelevant disciplines ( biology, envirenvironmentalnce, etc).
  • 10+ years’ experience in the energy sector or consulting field. The position will be commensurate with experience.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiating, and oral / written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of environmental / permitting regulations relevant to the development, construction, and operation of complex energy projects.

Preferred experience with NEPA, ESA, CEQA, and / or wind / solar wildlife interaction issues.

  • Experience permitting in complex regulatory environments (e.g. New York, California, etc).
  • Ability to work independently and organize numerous diverse project responsibilities.
  • Flexible to travel as needed (ranging from 20-50%).
  • Experience with Microsoft platform - SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Pay range : The annual base salary range for this position in California or New York City is $134,000.00 - $201,000.00 .
