Job Description :

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to) :

1) Follows work schedule and performs all daily and weekly job tasks in the assigned work area to meet department standards of cleanliness.

4) Provides carpet care and vacuums all carpets following the schedule.

Provides spot removal from carpets and upholstery as needed.

Bonnet-cleans carpeted areas as needed.

Informs manager of carpets that require scheduled project carpet extraction.

5) Maintains tiled floors by dry mopping, damp mopping, and rinsing them, including edges and corners, moving furniture and items as needed.

Provides floor maintenance by spray buffing or burnishing tiled floors.

Maintains the desired appearance of floors; may strip and refinish floors as needed.

Informs manager of floors that may require scheduled project stripping work done.

6) Inspects work area and performs necessary cleaning tasks independently.

7) Takes the initiative to make sufficient time for a low and high dusting of assigned areas. Keeps vents dust-free.

8) Polishes stainless steel, brass, and other smooth surfaces according to work schedule.

9) Assists with the cleaning of patient rooms, restrooms, bathrooms, common areas, etc., as needed.

10) Provides assistance to the light aide moving equipment and furniture in and out of patient rooms and common areas as needed.

11) Inspects all window, cubicle, and shower curtains; changes and re-hangs curtains and drapes in assigned areas, as needed.

Recommends cleaning to manager.

12) Maintains equipment and keeps all equipment clean and safe. Notifies supervisor of any equipment problems or unsafe working conditions.

13) Plans supply and equipment needs and takes appropriate items at the beginning of each shift. Maintains adequate par level of supplies in housekeeping closet and keeps the closet clean and neat.

14) Attends hospital / department in-services and meetings as required.

Minimum Qualifications :

1. Cleaning experience in a hospital or industrial setting, with experience in sanitation principles and techniques preferred.

Experience in operating various types of heavy housekeeping equipment.

2. Ability to read and write to understand directions and warnings on cleaning supplies and various postings, and to complete logs.

3. Interpersonal skills to be pleasant and courteous and to interact with patients, visitors, and all levels of hospital staff.

4. Ability to pay close attention to detail for a majority of the workday.

Physical Requirements & Environment :

1. Works in a clean, well-lit, well-ventilated area for the majority of the workday.

2. Physical demands include lifting objects over 100 pounds, as well as lifting objects from floor to waist, and moving heavy loads from place to place.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Environmental Scientist Regulatory and Environmental Compliance Professional we'll count on you to

  • Plan and direct medium- to large-size environmental permitting and compliance projects for utility, solar, wind, solid waste, industrial facilities, and other projects as identified
  • Prepare, plan and analyze / review technical studies, permit applications, environmental planning studies, environmental assessments / impact analysis and associated permitting and compliance monitoring for infrastructure and development projects that require conformance with State / City Environmental Reviews & National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

  • Research and interpret scientific literature, regulatory programs, guidance and applications

  • Work with GIS or oversee use of GIS tools
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • 7+ years' experience in complex environmental planning / compliance projects preparing environmental documents which should include experience in wetlands / natural resources, permitting, planning, NEPA, , Section 7, Rhode Island State Permitting, research and assessment of regulations, GIS applications.

Qualifications

The Environmental Operations Specialist classification is the fully experienced level within the job family. The Environmental Operations Specialist, Senior, classification is distinguished from the Environmental Operations Specialist classification by having lead responsibility for performing more technical and complex work in design, inspection, contract and project management, and budget administration, requiring a higher level of knowledge, experience, and skill.

Work assignments are provided with limited technical instruction and require considerable independence in the selection of courses of action and resolution of complex or unique problems within the framework of departmental policy and procedures, applicable regulations, and accepted best practices.

Education and Experience :

Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in public administration, finance, engineering, environmental science, or related field.

Other combinations of education or experience, which would demonstrate the ability to perform the work, will be considered, preferably with public sector experience at the local government level.

Preferred qualifications :

Examples of Duties

Duties vary by position and may include but are not limited to the following :

  • Plan and prepare requests for proposals, budgets, selecting contractors, negotiating contracts; general contract management.
  • Develop initial scope of work, schedules and budgets for consulting services on assigned projects; prepare or assist in the preparation of evaluation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs);

monitors quality of deliverables and tracks performance.

  • Coordinate the work of consultants and / or engineering, operations and maintenance staff as it relates to assigned projects.
  • Respond to, investigate, and resolve citizen complaints as they pertain to illegal discharges and water quality complaints;

respond to spills and take appropriate cleanup action.

  • Conduct or direct on-site inspections at solid waste facilities including transfer stations and / or landfills; determine or verify the proper function, operation, and maintenance.
  • Conduct or direct on-site household hazardous waste collection events.
  • Coordinate with Clark County Public Works staff to conduct field investigations, research property information, review applicable codes, and sampling
  • Analyzes program effectiveness and identifies methods to improve programs and build public awareness. Conducts research and identifies emerging and changing issues impacting program and makes recommendations to management for improvements.
  • Serve as staff representative on various technical advisory committees, commissions, and interest groups, with local and state partners.
  • Track performance measures to evaluate effectiveness of operational activities and monitor program progress; publish necessary reports and documents
  • Research grant funding opportunities, prepare grant proposals, and administer grants. Researches and identifies relevant grant opportunities;

obtains program manager and Council approval; completes grant applications and partners with other workgroups in the County in the administration of grant files and required documentation as needed.

Responsible for monitoring and reporting of information required by the grant funder.

Provides input to manager on expected program costs during development of annual program budgets; develops and tracks budgets for individual projects and program activities;

monitors status of budgets and works with manager to make necessary adjustments to program work and budget.

  • Review and approve reimbursements and invoices; participate in the preparation of the program budget and monitor budget to ensure expenditures are within appropriations.
  • Responsible for developing, tracking, and reporting of program metrics, including outputs, outcomes, or other key performance indicators.
  • Advises management and works with other County workgroups to take initial action on established conformance when sub-agencies / contractors are not in compliance.
  • Interpret applicable laws, codes and policies to assure county compliance. Plan and manage the solid waste and recycling infrastructure including : customer service, collection services, regional system operations, and revenue tracking.
  • Coordinate operations including disaster debris and emergency planning.
  • Coordinate and monitor sampling, monitoring programs, and budget compliance at closed landfills.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of closed landfills, transfer stations and solid waste facilities and report on status and maintenance requirements.

Work closely with local, state and regulatory agencies to assure compliance with closed landfill requirements.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements :

Incumbents typically work in both office and field settings associated with community events, complaint investigations, and technical assistance visits / meetings.

Work involves management of multiple priorities and direct face-to-face interactions with the public.

Essential tasks include use of the telephone, personal computers, office equipment and driving a county or personal vehicle to travel to various work sites.

Work entails seeing, reading, speaking in person and over the phone, handwriting, typing / keyboard and manual dexterity.

Work may require walking, bending, lifting, carrying, kneeling, pushing and pulling up to 25lbs. Field work is performed outdoors on active commercial or landfill sites, and within stormwater facilities with rough or unstable terrain.
