The job of the Order Picker includes but is not limited to :

  • Pulling merchandise from stock for high-volume Business Center orders.
  • Loads items onto flat cart and / or pallet and transports them with manual pallet jack.
  • Packs cooler and freezer items in coolers.
  • Operates pallet jack to load delivery trucks.
  • Follows proper Picking department procedures for performance of duties and paperwork.
  • Lifts pallet from low stack and sets on floor. Moves pallet with manual pallet jack. Observes safety and security procedures.
  • Checks manual pallet jacks and pallets, tagging any with defects.
  • Uses proper lifting techniques.
  • Obtains pick ticket from control desk.
  • Scans pick ticket with a wearable hand scanner that will list number and location of items to pull for an order.
  • Operates manual pallet jack to transport pallet through warehouse and selects items from floor stock to assemble orders.
  • Checks each pull to ensure correct item and quantity are pulled, and that the items are in good condition.
  • Enlists forklift driver to drop full pallets from steel shelves for large-quantity item orders. Spots for forklift drivers to keep people out of fall danger zone.
  • Enters quantity or weight of each item pulled into wearable hand scanner.
  • Notes any approved substitutions and out-of-stock items.
  • Operates manual pallet jack to move approved completed orders onto trucks for delivery.

POSITION SUMMARY :

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the Jacintoport International Facility mobile equipment fleet, which consists of various types of combustion engine and electric powered equipment to include, but not limited to, forklifts, container handlers, yard trucks, pick-up trucks, golf carts, and all their related components, within the Mechanic Shop Department.

QUALIFICATIONS : Required

Required

  • Six (6) months of experience in equipment maintenance & repairs programs for electric, diesel and / or gas powered equipment, including forklifts, container handlers, yard trucks, pick-up trucks, golf carts and or cranes.
  • Must have the necessary basic hand tools for the maintenance and repair of electric, diesel and gas equipment.
  • Must have experience and ability to use common hand and power tools.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak Basic English.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Primary

  • Perform routine PM (preventive maintenance) service on gas and diesel engines and on fuel, brake, and transmission systems to ensure peak performance, safety, and longevity of the equipment (oil changes, filter changes, fluid checks, etc.)
  • Remove and replace parts with minimal supervision
  • Correct equipment deficiencies by adjusting equipment components to manufactures specifications using provided maintenance manuals or direction from shop foreman or others with qualified information.
  • May assist other mechanics in performance of duties or work independently.
  • Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards and maintain an awareness of surroundings (i.e. vehicles, equipment, etc.) at all times.

Secondary

  • Assist in identifying and ordering parts.
  • Manually track times spent on maintenance jobs and enter on the job order, and provide information to the shop supervisor or shop coordinator for system entry.
  • Assist in fueling operation as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Plant and Environmental Safety

  • Lives the Owens Corning safety standard and meets all the safety conditions. Safety is a requirement of employment.

  • Notify supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss or on- the -job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem.
