Purpose

Perform journey-level electrical work in support of campus facility renovation and repair projects. Provide temporary power for campus special events.

Responsibilities

• Install electrical panels, circuits, lighting fixtures, outlets, and various commercial and laboratory equipment in accordance with construction documents and written-verbal instructions to meet client requirements.
• Install interior and exterior temporary power for various campus special events. Some evening and weekend work required.
• Read, understand, and work from design drawings, sketches, construction documents, building codes, and university standards with or without direct supervision.

Drive UT vehicle in support of campus projects and special events.

Wear personal protective equipment as required for each task. Comply with safety standards and policies.

• Support zone maintenance shops and other departments in repair of campus facilities, including after-hours response to campus emergencies.
• Attend management-directed meetings and training. Accomplish other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Three years experience as a journey-level electrician. Licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation as a Journeyman Electrician.

Before final offer can be made, successful applicant must provide a current driver's license and acceptable driving record for the most recent 36 months.

Texas driving history will be confirmed online during selection process; applicant must provide out-of-state driving history, if previously licensed in another state.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates degree or graduation from vocational or technical training related to electrical trade or facility renovation or construction.

More than three years of journey-level experience as a commercial or industrial electrician with emphasis on interior renovations, including installation of rigid, EMT, and flexible conduit;

and various commercial wire raceways. Licensed as a Master Electrician. Demonstrated ability to produce quality work from project drawings, specifications, construction standards, or written-verbal instructions with or without direct supervision.

Commitment to and compliance with organizational values, goals, and policies regarding customer service, job performance, and job-site safety.

Experience working in a large university or commercial-industrial physical plant. Ability to perform and communicate in a team environment with co-workers, supervisors, and clients.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence.

If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$60,055 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Exposure to construction hazards including extreme temperatures, dust, noise, heights, steep surfaces, fumes and adverse weather conditions.

Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding, and rigging. Lifts, pushes, and pulls 50 pounds.

We help customers with their electrical needs. Residential customers and small businesses call us to help them trouble-shoot issues like flickering lights or a tripped breaker or maybe to install a new fixture, circuit, or panel.

You'll have a company van parked at your house and most days you'll dispatch straight from your home with your call sent to your company IPAD and with coordination from your dispatcher.

You'll arrive at the customer's home looking sharp and identify what needs to be done. When the customer says "yes," you do the work or schedule it for another day with a helper.

Once your call is complete you'll get another. Throughout the day, your branch manager and team leader will be in contact to make sure you have what you need to be successful and they're always there to help.

One day per week we get together for training and a little fun but you'll learn about that later.

Job Responsibilities
