The dispatcher is responsible for the timely and accurate dispatch of sub-haulers for vehicle pick-up and delivery while providing excellent service to customers.
- Outbound calls to pick-up locations.
- Dispatch sub-haulers for vehicle pick-up and delivery within company timelines.
- Ensure sub-haulers meet company requirements prior to dispatching.
- Outbound calls to sellers.
- Solicit business.
- Utilize cost-effective vendors to meet company budget objectives.
- Educate sub-haulers on company policies and procedures.
- Maintain and archive documents.
- Answer phone calls.
- Collect payments on member deliveries.
- Comply with Safety and enforce regulations.
- Print checks.
- Monitor incoming documents on the fax machine.
- Print reports as needed.
- Manage vendor relationships.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience :
- Two years of dispatch experience.
- One year of customer service skills experience.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills and attitude.
- Excellent Communication Skills verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Typing speed 45 words per minute.
- Basic Ten key proficiency.
- Basic Math skills.
- Computer proficiency (MS Suite experience).
- Ability to operate office equipment.
- Multi-tasking.
- Ability to work in fast-paced / diverse environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Know geographical area as well as ability to read maps.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Occasional Overtime as needed.
- Bilingual Skill a plus.

Systems Dispatcher
General Statement
Under immediate supervision of a Civil Engineer (Water Ways Control Division), during an assigned shift, directs and coordinates the operation of high voltage electrical transmission equipment that involves connections with the Commonwealth Edison Company and electric system of the District.

- In accordance with general and detailed orders, directs the proper interchange of power between public utilities and the District by communicating with utility Load Dispatchers and operating personnel at District facilities.
- Issues detailed instructions to operating personnel for the safe operation and control of high voltage lines and equipment.
- Maintains records of Holds and issues Holds and clearances on lines and equipment at District facilities through Operating personnel and in cooperation with public utility Dispatchers.
- Issues orders to control distribution of loads on lines and equipment to prevent and equipment to prevent overloading or to redistribute loads in case of failure or impending of high voltage electrical apparatus.
- Maintains written records of operations, loads, interruption reports, accident reports, lake and canal elevations, rainfall and other items affecting District operations.
- Maintains normal elevations and operating parameters of the Chicago waterways system.
- Issues instructions to operating personnel to control discharge of water at the Lockport Powerhouse, Lockport Controlling Works, and intake (or discharge) of water from (to) Lake Michigan at various facilities, for the purpose of flood control and to maintain safe operating elevations.
Other Job Functions
- Initiates repair work or investigation of failures, breakdowns or other emergency conditions such as oil spills.
- Acts as tour guide in Waterways Control Room.
- Receives and disseminates information to proper authority regarding District operations, accidents, injuries, and weather information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical office environment. May use standard office equipment and computer terminals.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent and seven years of experience in electrical operating work.
Substitution
Additional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Promotional Requirement
- One year of experience with the District as a Power House Dispatcher, Chief Electrical Operator or Electrical Operator II.
- Civil service status in one of the foregoing classifications.

Position Summary
The Operations Dispatcher is responsible for providing an outstanding customer experience while managing the customer’s needs in a timely, effective manner.
Each dispatcher is assigned an area zone and is required to prioritize calls by requested times, size of customer, and customer need.
A dispatcher is directly responsible to ensure work is being done in the most efficient way possible while driving productivity to meet goals set by management.
Responsibilities
- Answer and assist every ETA call that comes into the dispatch center while keeping our customer experience top notch
- Route and send daily orders into the system to the driver’s route while maintaining communication throughout the day with the driver
- Keep an upbeat and positive attitude throughout the day in the midst of heavy phone volume with drivers
- Work a Saturday rotation as instructed by management
- Enter customer issues into the system for management to review
- Report damage and / or accidents to roll-off operations manager
Qualifications / Knowledge / Critical Skills

- Waste industry experience preferred but not required

Our dispatcher role is a fast paced, problem-solving role whose primary job is to connect semi dump trucks with customer’s needs.

Job Duties
- Dispatch drivers, brokers and negotiate material costs based on customer requests.

DISPATCHER
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR DISPATCHER
Note : We do not offer or promise full-time employment with either a client railroad or with Hallcon. We do not hire or train people off the street for the rail industry you must be a fully qualified, FRA certified locomotive engineer, have current licensure, and have a proven positive safety / performance record.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND POSITION INFORMATION :
- Commuter and freight rail dispatching duties as required by the client.
- Both freight and transit / commuter opportunities.
- Short-term temporary engagement of your services as an independent contractor.
- Paid travel, meals, and lodging while performing service.
- No long-term employment commitment.
- Reasonable flexibility to accept assignments when you are available and able to be deployed.
- Competitive pay appropriate to your railroad craft.
- No benefits or health insurance applicable for temporary contractor assignments.
- Railroad retirement (RRB) participation available for some assignments, with opportunities for non-RRB assignments for retired RRB recipients as well.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Railroad professional with proven safety and rules compliance record.
- Willing and able to be away-from-home for an extended period of time while deployed on assignments that can range from a few weeks to multiple months.
- Clear background check and no driving-related alcohol or drug related convictions within the last 3 years.
- FRA Control of Alcohol and Drug Use screening required for each assignment (49 CFR Part 219)
- Willingness and ability to learn new railroads and their rules, and work with a variety of people.
- General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR) experience preferred for most positions.
