A Day in the life....

The Steward (Dishwasher) is responsible for the operation of the dish machine. Also responsible for collecting dirty plates and pots / pans from various areas, and restocking said areas with clean items, regular sweep / mop of work area and general cleaning of counter tops, tables, sinks, mats, dish area, and floors, disposal of trash, waste, and grease, and working with chemicals.

This position will start as PT and transition to FT.

RATE OF PAY : $22.06

Requirements

• Must be able to work safely with delicate equipment and china / glass / silver.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Understanding of basic sanitation, including safely reading and following instructions on various equipment and chemicals / cleaning agent
• Ability to communicate regularly with team members and supervisors
• Ability to follow daily checklists and report any issues or challenges to management team
• Must have a team-oriented attitude

What You’ll Do :

Perform various kitchen cleaning and storage activities (dishwashing, general equipment cleaning, overall cleaning duties in the kitchen and Dining Room), deliver room service, and assist with special events.

Our Dining Room closes at 7 p.m. - you'll be on your way home by 8 p.m.!

What You’ll Need :

Food Handler’s Permit as required, the ability to communicate in both written and spoken English, and be at least 16 years of age

Copine is looking for one Full Time Dishwasher for our small kitchen. Hours are Thursday-Saturday 3 : 30pm-close. (Typically this positions finishes by 11 : 30 or so.)

This position requires organization and reliability. Light cleaning / restocking of bathrooms before the shift.

You must be available for all three shifts, speak and understand some English and be able to follow instructions.

A Dishwasher, or Kitchen Helper, is responsible for cleaning dishes in a food service environment to ensure that the kitchen has a steady supply of clean plates, bowls, silverware, pots, pans and glasses.

Their duties include prioritizing loads of different types of crockery and kitchenware, hand-washing dishes, loading the dishwasher and placing dishes to dry.

In addition, they may be asked to assist with :

Prep work

Taking garbage and trash to dumpster area

Washing work areas, refrigerators, cooking equipment, walls and floors

Assembling, maintaining and breaking down the dish machine

Skills and qualifications associated with the role of a Dishwasher include :

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds several times a day

Ability to place cases, pans, utensils and plates on both low and high shelves

Ability to work in hot and damp environments

Ability to respond to emergency situations to avoid endangering themselves or others

What does our Dishwasher do?

• Monitors and records water temperature and sanitizer solution levels; notifies management if levels are not correct
• Assists in food preparation, obtains or stocks items, and cleans-up as needed
• Understands and observes sanitary guidelines and environmental requirements
• Sets up / breaks down dishwashing machine as necessary, including : arms, screens, traps, and baskets; cleans inside and outside;

checks to see it is operating properly

• Assembles and fills machine at the beginning of shift; checks water temperatures at the start and during the shift
• Clean and sanitize production equipment, work surfaces, ware-washing system, and areas in kitchen.
• Cleans and sanitizes garbage cans, and replaces liners
• Maintains storage room for cleaning supplies, chemicals; keeps room clean, and items stocked, labeled, and organized
• Possess knowledge of diets provided and served correctly per Policy and Procedure
• Performs other duties as assigned

What we're looking for from you :

• Required : Must be at least 18 years of age
• Experience : Six months’ previous utility / dishwashing experience is preferred
• Education : High School Diploma or equivalent
• Excellent Attitude : An upbeat, fun, outgoing personality and can-do attitude
• Work Environment : Kitchen organization and preparation hands-on responsibilities
• Superb Communication : Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Team-work : Willing to work cooperatively as a member of the kitchen / dining staff team and be able to respond to verbal instructions and directions
• Customer Service : Be patient, pleasant and understanding in relating to the residents and staff
