As a DC Structural Engineer at AWS, you will be part of the design team for Amazon DCs in our Americas Region and impact other projects around the world. As a Structural Engineer at AWS you will be part of a highly creative and efficient design team comprised of Architects, Engineers and Designers tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. As a subject matter expert, you will have a direct impact on the design of prototypical DC facilities, provide technical guidance to team members, review milestone drawings by consultants, solve large scale implementation issues, and be responsible for structural design requirements.

As a Principal Design Technologist on the People Engagement Experience (PEX) team, you will imagine and prototype next-generation features for our products. You’ll apply your deep technical expertise to advancing design with code, provoking design thinking and iteration through demos and walkthroughs. You will work quickly, choosing the right technology for the task at hand, to flesh out design concepts (interaction, visual, and motion). You’ll help your peers unlock technically challenging scenarios and mature the design team’s ability to deliver design at scale, and work around platform limitations and push platform capabilities through your work. Your curiosity will inspire those around you and facilitate team growth, while your hands-on, collaborative nature will build trust with your peers and partners.

This person will work collaboratively with a team of product managers, engineers, executives, as well as a team of passionate UX designers, researchers and writers to improve Amazon employee experiences. You’ll help drive UX development and be involved from early-stage concepts all the way through final delivery and launch.

Our mechanical design team is growing to match an ever-expanding need for data storage by our customers. Due to this growth, we need a collaborative, organized, and innovative Acoustical Design Engineer (ADE) to executing acoustical studies. This project work will consist of overseeing and performing sound surveys, acoustical modeling, and mitigation design. This role will require you to apply your skills to collaborate and innovate new acoustical strategies and designs for AWS Projects. Additional duties include answering construction Requests for Information, developing acoustical Scopes of Work, and writing technical documents. In this role, the ADE will work with a best in class group of engineers to produce construction documents for bidding and assist senior engineers with detailed project work.

As a subject matter expert, you will ensure that contractors have the information they need to build our data centers the way we expect them to, and that our operations teams are well equipped to operate and maintain them as needed to meet our goals. As part of this role you will work with internal and external stakeholders, including design engineers, construction, commissioning, operations, vendors, and other service providers. In this role you will influence all aspects of Mechanical design, construction, operations, and maintenance for our global fleet of data centers. This includes fire suppression, fire detection, fire alarm, and mass notification systems, as well as fire-resistant construction and life safety. You will work with internal and external teams to define, design, detail, and document the various Mechanical features that our facilities require, using both prescriptive and performance-based design approaches. As an Owner, you will strive to ensure the Mechanical features of our buildings protect our people and keep our customer’s data safe and uninterrupted over the life of the building. We expect you to contribute your expertise to the continual improvement of our Mechanical design standards.

Primary responsibilities will be to perform and oversee project-related work, such as water supply analysis and design for fire water service to buildings, including coordination with utilities and fire officials to establish basic site infrastructure requirements. The ability to coordinate Mechanical system space requirements, supporting utilities, and equipment locations, and to provide detailed construction specifications for all Mechanical-related trades will be expected. You will typically be responsible for the preparation of detailed designs for HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems. You will review all design disciplines to ensure they meet the code requirements described in our design standards. In some cases, you will oversee and review this work and in other cases you will perform the work yourself.

As the team’s subject matter expert, you will ensure that contractors have the information they need to build our data centers the way we expect them to, and that our operations teams are well equipped to operate and maintain them as needed to meet our goals.
