The Custodian maintains assigned buildings associated with the College for Officers Training through general cleaning and upkeep.
Essential Functions :
- General cleaning throughout the CFOT campus, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, emptying of trash, washing windows and cleaning bathrooms
- Maintain and clean janitor closets
- Maintain and clean visitor rooms for Brengle and other events
- Detail cleaning of brass throughout the campus
- Clean and polish the elevator threshold and cab
- Report all maintenance related issues to the Property Director
- Clean carpets throughout campus in the summer and as requested by supervisor
Experience :
A minimum of 3 months experience in facility janitorial maintenance.
Skills :
Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership and field personnel.
Physical requirements :
Must be able to lift up to and including 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able stand and walk for extended periods of time, bend, squat, climb stairs and ladders, reach above shoulder level, crouch, push, pull and have near / far vision acuity.
Working Conditions :
Exposure to dirt, dust, chemicals and solvents.

Job Description Summary Responsible for minor maintenance repairs and the clean and orderly appearance of the collection center.
Job Description
1 Cleans table, chairs, cabinets, counters and appliances located in the employee break room and donor waiting area.
2 Vacuums carpets, dusts furniture and removes trash.
3 Cleans windows and doors at least daily.
4 Performs minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, painting, minor plumbing and carpentry tasks.
5 Monitors the grounds and parking lots around the center and picks up litter as required in these areas.
6 Assists in recycling and repackaging of shipping materials.
7 Inspects and cleans restrooms throughout the day. Replaces paper and soap supplies. Performs minor custodial tasks in area as required.
8 Physically receives supplies from vendors and moves supplies from storage area to released and quarantined areas.
9 Maintains clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
Promotes safety in all actions.
10 Maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
11 May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
12 Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.
13 Perform job-related duties as assigned.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience
- Minimum three (3) months experience as a custodian preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and / or written instructions
- Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines
- Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
- Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time
- Reach, bend, kneel and have high level of manual dexterity
- Occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures and to blood borne pathogens
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas
- Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs

Position Summary
The position is responsible for custodial duties to assure a clean, safe, building environment with a high appearance level. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Clean and keep entire restrooms at a high appearance level including, toilets, sinks, mirrors, windows, floors, trash containers, walls, and replenishing restroom supplies, and other areas as identified.
- Clean and maintain the museum at a high appearance level, including galleries, lobbies, and other areas as identified.
- Vacuum and maintain offices, lounges, and other departments as assigned.
- Remove snow from museum entrances, emergency sidewalks, and exits.
- Perform special projects for exhibitions, school groups, and special events including floor care and set ups.
- Comply with museum green cleaning standards and procedures.
- Comply with OSHA requirements.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Complete all routine, ongoing duties and assigned tasks in a professional and timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of safety training virtually or in person, including, but not limited to : Asbestos Awareness, Hazard Communications, Fire Safety / Extinguisher Use, Personal Protective Equipment, Ladder and Aerial Lift, Back Injury Prevention and Hearing Conservation.
- Follow detailed instructions and communicate verbally and in writing according to department standards.
- Must be able to work in a diverse and inclusive atmosphere.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and appropriately, as well as exhibit patience and understanding when engaging with internal and external customers.
Physical Requirements
- Regular lifting of up to 25 pounds when restocking supplies and 55 pounds when moving furniture, heavy equipment and boxes.

- General duties include; standing, walking, bending and reaching when performing various assignments as well as operating all related equipment.
- Stretching and reaching overhead and below the waist.
- Climbing stairs, and ladders.
- Using / wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required including, but not limited to, respirators, protective footwear and eyewear.

Position Summary : The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the school building, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, and staff.
The Custodian will perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties along with providing assistance / coordination of set up and take down for school events.
The Custodian will work closely with building maintenance to ensure that all cleaning and maintenance tasks are completed to high standards.
Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned) :
- Locks and unlocks doors at the specified times and turns on lights to open school in the mornings.
- Sweep, Mops and vacuum hallways and entrances on a daily basis or more often, as directed, in inclement weather.
- Assists with snow removal from school property as directed as well as maintaining outdoor areas sweeping sidewalks and picking up litter.
- Perform routine maintenance items like checking / replacing light bulbs in corridors, classrooms and by exits.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the cafeteria, kitchen and all school related equipment including cleanup after lunch hours.
- Sets up events with requested table and chair arrangements for special functions, moves other furniture and equipment as directed.
- Assists with takedown of school events, including moving tables, chairs and cleaning up after the event is finished.
- Assumes general responsibility for assigned areas but takes care of other areas as need dictates.
- Ensures equipment and supply storage areas neat and orderly as well as keep maintenance inventory stocked.
- Keeps maintenance equipment in good, clean, working condition.
- Cleans sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors and replaces toilet supplies as needed.
- Responds to emergency clean up needs in a prompt manner while complying with OSHA regulations regarding the proper disposal of body wastes and / or fluids.
- Reports any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate school personnel.
Education / Experience Required :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred but willing to train a motivated person.
- Must be able to communicate effectively as well as possess a strong ability to work well with others.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting, moving heavy objects along with standing for long periods of time.
- Occasionally must be able lift, carry, pull, push, and / or move up to 50 pounds.

Essential Functions :
- Maintain leasing office, models, and interior public and common areas of the community in a neat, clean and attractive condition.
- Maintain all grounds, including sidewalks, public walkways, and stairways, building exteriors, garden areas in a neat, clean and attractive condition.
- Assisting in efforts to make vacant apartment homes rent-ready in a timely manner; assist in appliance installs and changes.
- Compact and remove trash and debris from community areas.
- Snow clearing during winter months; obstruction removal if affecting safety year round such as trash, branches, piles of leaves, etc.
- Complete assigned cleaning requests and repairs consistent with company operating standards and in a timely manner.
- Maintain company customer service standards. Respond to resident requests and work with residents to minimize / resolve problems and complaints.

Qualifications :

- Ability to frequently transport up to 50 pounds variable distances, the mobility and flexibility to use required equipment and to access and work in restricted spaces or at heights in excess of 8-9 feet
