Where you shine
Develops and executes creative marketing ideas to solve client challenges. Focuses on the content and copy of the creative product.
Collaborates primarily with an art director to generate ideas and create concepts and visual designs that are on strategy, on brand and achieve client objectives.
What your success will look like
- Attend project kick-off meetings with senior creative team members, account, strategy, and project management
- Take notes based on creative brief discussed
- Ask clarifying questions to understand the assignment and any specific creative requests

- Interpret feedback and adjust copy accordingly
- Ensure concept is on strategy
- Mentor junior copywriters and / or interns
- Enter time reports at minimum once a week and expense reports within 10 days of incurred expense
Who you are and what you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications, journalism or relevant field
- 2-5 years of experience as a copywriter, preferably in an agency or in-house creative department
- Basic understanding of advertising and marketing principles
- Understanding of how to craft language that is introductory, educational, inspirational, formal, humorous, straightforward and can overall grab the attention of the viewer
- Knowledge of current trends, pop culture, current and past design themes
- Able to communicate clearly, thoroughly and succinctly both verbally and in writing; can clearly articulate an idea and the reason(s) behind a specific creative direction
- Able to accept constructive feedback and apply in work
- Current knowledge and understanding of where and how people interact with media, including at home, on the go, while shopping, mobile, broadcast, print, event, etc.
- Collaborates well with others, demonstrated by partnering with other creatives to successfully brainstorm and concept ideas
- Anticipates potential problems and obstacles to project success, communicates concerns and develops solutions
- Proactively seeks out additional projects during lull periods

The Role
We’re looking for a mid-level Copywriter to join our freshly assembled Creative Studio. This writer will work alongside art directors, designers and other collaborators to tell the story of Vital Proteins.
They will be a conceptual thinker big on craft. A writer with range. Adept at all medium from emails to product copy and film but with a special love for social.
Able to go long, if necessary, but also an excellent line writer who can regularly lace some personality into three-to-five words.
Though newly formed, our Creative Studio has high ambitions : We are here to make great work with great people. We’d love to have you here in Chicago, but we’re open to remote.

- Write for a variety of formats including print, digital, social, packaging, in-store and more
- Be a guardian of brand tone and voice in whatever channel or medium it sits

What does this role do at AHIMA?
The Copywriter will play an integral role in ensuring content is engaging and consistent in brand style, tone, and voice, across all AHIMA communication vehicles.
Reporting to the Brand Communications Director, the Copywriter will manage AHIMA brand communications and lifecycle marketing messaging.
This includes translation of messaging objectives into compelling, conversion-driving copy across a variety of channels, as well as working closely with the product marketing and design teams to brainstorm ideas, develop concepts, and articulate messaging, you will ensure that the content is optimized for search, engagement, member recruitment, and brand tone and voice.
The role exists to write, proofread, and edit visible marketing / communications content, which involves crafting concise, engaging, persuasive copy across product marketing campaign elements (including web, email, social media, and paid digital advertising), supporting proofreading and editing of member directed content (newsletters, blog posts, website pages, whitepapers, etc.
collaborating with the creative team and cross functionally across AHIMA to ensure goals are being met while attaining / maintaining creative vision that is on strategy and on brand, and understanding marketing plans (including objectives and strategies on how success will be measured).

Qualifications

The Copywriter will join a small but motivated internal creative team to assist with loyalty and brand content support.
