BA on the data area :

The IT Business Analyst role partners with our business to define areas of functional need and translate those needs into requirements for project execution.

This role is part of the IT Enterprise Data team which includes the collection, management, and conversion of raw data into usable information for business to interpret.

• Our goal is to make data accessible so that our organization can use it to evaluate and optimize our performance. The Senior Business Analyst role is responsible for understanding and documenting business requirements into agile stories;
• translating business needs into actionable technology requirements; developing and describing business benefits; creating and cascading reference and training materials;

providing functional and acceptance testing support; analyzing current state and providing gap analysis; and delivering sprints and product releases against business objectives, priorities and strategy while ensuring a quality supportable product.

Looking for a Senior Business Analyst who is strong in cloud data warehousing, source to target data mapping, data modeling, turning business discussions into functional and technical requirements.

Strong in Agile, Scrum, Jira, SQL, and MS O. Exposure? / Knowledge in AWS, Snowflake, and Tableau. Preferred knowledge in Sigma, Informatica PowerCenter / IICS, and Fivetran.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Facilitate business stakeholders in a group setting to identify root causes for technology inefficiency and large-scale improvement opportunities.

Create business process documentation and drive streamlining and simplifying of cross-functional documentation to make it easy to find and use.

Facilitate acceptance testing and production release readiness.

Facilitate workshops to document As Is and To Be work process flows using effective small group techniques.

Use the best fit development methodology to turn improvement opportunities into application requirements or user epics. Groom multiple application backlogs.

Engage with business users to ensure benefits are well understood and properly documented.

Develop complex user and training documentation and provide train-the-trainer or direct user training as appropriate.

Support and facilitate vendor selection process. Assist the BRM with the vendor relationship at the project level.

Partner w / Project Team to deliver against project roadmap, while meeting Business project needs.

Assist in performing role of liaison between Business Project Lead and technical team for project issue resolution.

Provide input into and feedback of testing scripts. Facilitate and actively participate in acceptance (UAT) and production readiness testing.

Analyzes test results to support resolution.

Translate strategic intent to specific capabilities for the Enterprise Data Team. Provide input into the area roadmaps.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education / Training :

Bachelors Degree required, or equivalent experience.

Related Experience :

Minimum years of experience in a Business Analyst role involving IT data warehousing in cloud, required.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong group facilitation skills.

Familiarity with agile project / product management concepts and tools.

Ability to model business process.

Familiarity with standard flowcharting tools such as Visio or Lucidchart. Lucidchart is preferred.

Ability to manage application / product backlogs.

Familiarity with JIRA is preferred.

General Summary :

Performs business, budget, and financial analysis, forecasting and accounting functions for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Performs highly complex analysis of internal costs, incurred costs, estimates, financial, and statistical information.
• Assists with the development, preparation, training, and coordination of Department’s operating and capital budgets.
• Research budget and accounting issues for management and makes recommendations based on the research.
• Serves as contact with department personnel to obtain information relevant to budgets and plans.
• Provides technical assistance and training to staff.
• Prepares routine monthly, quarterly, and annual reports such as cost analysis, capital data, and expenditure status reports to provide appropriate monitoring for effective decision-making.
• Provides support to Senior Manager of Operations & Budget.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :

Note : An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, or related field.
• Four (4) years progressively responsible experience in a financial, accounting, analysis and budgeting, auditing environment or related field.
• Ability to demonstrate a fiduciary obligation to section, division, department, and DART in handling materials and information of a confidential nature.
• High level of analytical ability required finding solutions to complex interpersonal, financial, administrative, professional, and technical problems.

Interpersonal skills required to effectively communicating with staff, all levels of management and non-supervisory employees, vendors, government entities, contractors, and others both inside and outside of DART.

• Advanced level of computer skills to manage databases, utilize macros, spreadsheets, etc.
• Communicating Orally / Writing. Can understand complicated messages and use questions and paraphrase to clarify. Able to provide complex information that is understandable and grammatically correct.
• Budgeting : Able to independently develop program and project cost and budget estimates. Identifies and tracks key budget indicators to predict cost / budget overruns.
• Analyzing / Evaluating : Able to analyze moderately complex data sets, to accurately summarize data, and to characterize causal relationships and interrelationships between and among variables.

Prepares reports for and makes recommendations to managers based upon results of analyses / evaluations. Databases / Spreadsheets : Ability to customize forms and reports, using advanced techniques.

Able to use macros to automate data entry. Can administer a database system. Can audit, import external data, and create data maps.

Serves as resource person within work unit.

Working Conditions :

Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.

Specific Role Responsibilities :

• Create JIRA user stories to make sure business requirements reflect as acceptance criteria
• Meet with the business, Product owners to gather requirements, clarify questions
• Perform analysis on implementing RESTful webservices as well as event driven processing; Pass the knowledge to the development team, make sure the requirements are confirmed in line with the architecture / design
• Validate the implemented functionality in the lower environments using PostMan and / or UI

Pay Range : $50 - $60 / hr

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market;
