Banquet Supervisor

PRIMARY PURPOSE :
It is the primary responsibility of the Banquet Supervisor to oversee all aspects of day-to-day banquet services.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Work directly with Banquet Managers on staffing ratios, room lay outs, menu implementation and operation of events as well as closely work with the Catering Manager regarding service of events.
- Review Banquet Event Order and understand the event as planned by the client and catering manager; create diagrams for events.
- Prepare back of house strike sheets for events requiring equipment for service and prepare server assignments for each event.
- Communicate with support departments to finalize details relating to food, beverage, equipment, power and room set up for all responsible events;
oversee the Banquet service staff and ensure they are following department, property and corporate policies and procedures.
Manage Human Resource responsibilities for specifically assigned areas; create and maintain a work environment that promotes client service, teamwork, performance feedback, individual recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction ensure quality hiring, training, and succession planning processes that encompass the company’s diversity commitment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience in catering and banquets or related field
- Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays
PREFERRED :
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two (2) years of experience as a banquet supervisor / captain in an operation of similar size and scope or manager / director experience in a smaller, luxury property
- Four (4) years of experience in catering and banquets or related field

POSITION SUMMARY :
It is the primary responsibility of the Convention Porter to set up and tear down various events in the various convention areas on property.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.
Top 5 Specific Job Functions :
- Maintain the cleanliness of the meeting rooms
- Set-up and breakdown rooms for both meetings and food functions
- Transport any food and beverage trays / items in public areas to service areas
- Stock and organize supply carts with designated materials and equipment, transporting to assigned function area
- Inspect set rooms for cleanliness and agreement to group requirements
Other Specific Job Functions :
- Maintain complete knowledge of daily scheduled group functions, times, locations, amount of people, location of all Hotel function space and names of rooms, all styles of meeting and Banquet room settings and all safety guidelines
- Supervise and assist in maintaining and cleaning of meeting rooms
- Effectively communicate with management and staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by the guest or other employees
- Sustain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies / service procedures / standards
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
- Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items / surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
- Retrieve clean linen and skirting from Laundry and stock in storage areas
- Set up rooms and function areas with designated tables, chairs, staging, dance floor, flip charts, easels, blackboards and other equipment as specified by group requirements and in accordance with departmental standards
- Set up table linens, skirting and tabletop items (water pitchers, ashtrays, glasses, etc.) as specified by group and in accordance with departmental standards
- Refresh rooms as scheduled, following departmental standards
- Breakdown function areas as scheduled in accordance to departmental procedures, storing all reusable goods and return equipment to specified storage areas
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of closets; remove trash, wipe down shelves / counters; sweep and wax floor
- Performs all other job related duties as requested
