What You'll Do
As a Senior Technical Artist for our new game project, you will play a crucial role in solving character-related challenges and optimizing the character implementation pipeline. Your responsibilities will include integrating characters into the game engine while maintaining artistic vision and performance standards. You will utilize your expertise in Unreal Engine material lookdev and the material graph to create visually impressive and efficient character materials. Additionally, your proficiency in Blueprint scripting and understanding of the character implementation pipeline will enable you to extend and optimize asset integration. Your familiarity with third-party DCCs and problem-solving skills will contribute to addressing technical issues and streamlining asset workflows.
In this role, you will
- Character Implementation Pipeline: Collaborate with the art and engineering teams to optimize the character implementation pipeline, ensuring efficient workflows and maintaining the artistic vision from DCCs to in-game assets.
- Material LookDev: Utilize your deep knowledge of Unreal Engine material lookdev and the material graph to create visually stunning and technically efficient materials for characters, enhancing their appearance and overall visual fidelity within the optimized pipeline.
- Blueprint Knowledge: Utilize your understanding of blueprint scripting to extend and improve the character implementation pipeline, enabling smoother asset integration and addressing any technical challenges that may arise.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical issues related to the character implementation pipeline, including optimizing asset creation workflows, addressing rendering artifacts, and streamlining asset pipelines. Continuously explore and implement new techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and quality in character production.
- Third-Party DCCs: Leverage your proficiency with third-party DCCs such as Nuke, Maya, Houdini and Substance Painter to create, modify, and optimize character assets. Collaborate with artists to streamline asset creation and ensure seamless integration into the optimized pipeline.
What we're looking for
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine material lookdev and the material graph.
- Blueprint scripting experience in Unreal Engine to understand and extend the character implementation pipeline, enabling smoother asset integration and addressing technical challenges.

UI Artist

What You'll Do
In this position, you will collaborate with UX designers to design features and UX/UI systems by generating high fidelity mockups, prototypes, design systems, and style guides. You will assist the UI Technical Designers and UI Engineers to build out the designs into rapid prototypes and shippable UI to players.
In this role, you will have the ability to take wireframes and bring them to life while improving the UX with visuals. You will also implement final art in Unreal Editor using UMG, animations, materials, etc.
In this role, you will
- Execute to a high craft quality bar, work autonomously and tackle medium to complex features; contribute to the success of the Product team by designing and implementing complex UI features.
- Design and Implement medium to complex flows, screens, and components at a high-quality bar with minimal oversight.
- Contribute to the growth of the UI Artists within my Product Team through feedback and mentorship.
- Support UX/UI Leads & Directors with scoping and estimation of your work.
- Actively seek out and facilitate collaboration with partners within my Product Team; assist in leveling up the entire Product Team; work autonomously and require minimal oversight.
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of experience designing and implementing AAA game UI.
- You are skilled with Figma, Adobe Suite, and prototyping software.
- A strong portfolio of work showcasing your work and insight into your process; talented Visual Designer with experience in design systems & component libraries.
- Experience with UI Art implementation, in Unreal Engine (UMG) or equivalent game engine.
- Experience with building UI materials & shaders for game engines, or equivalent 3d packages and FX tools; motion design & UI animation, preferably for games or interaction design.
- You have the ability to see features through to completion and rapidly modify design as information changes.
- You have a passion for making and playing games and have a strong sense of player empathy; a collaborative, team player with experience working in Agile environments and on multi-disciplinary teams.

The person in this role will incorporate a passion for games with their technical and artistic abilities to create engaging and exciting media. In this role, you will
- Work closely with a team to compose still images in Unreal Engine 5 that show off key features, awesome characters, impressive visuals, or specific moments within a game through simple narrative
- Light still scenes at a cinematic level to convey a mood and push a narrative
- Contribute in other aspects of the image creation such as posing characters, set dressing a scene, creating or modifying materials and FX systems, and/or overall image composition to convey simple narratives and show off cosmetics
- Come up with concepts for marketing images that will show off upcoming skins, limited time modes, or additional game features coming to the game
What we're looking for
- Strong grasp on concepts of composition, cinematography, color, and lighting in visual media
- Background in studio or production lighting

Senior Gameplay Animator
What We Do

What You'll Do
Epic Games is searching for experienced Animators to join our team working on projects under the Fortnite IP. You'll create original animation with a strong emphasis on style and appeal that's grounded in realistic world physics. A great understanding is needed of the fundamentals of animation and how they relate to game animation and the ability to implement animations in the Unreal 5 game engine using our animation blueprint system. A strong sense of gameplay feel and timing in relation to game design principles in Fortnite is a must.
In this role, you will
- Create character specific animations such as gameplay animations for the main player and AI as well as dances and emotes or cosmetic items in Maya using our ART/Armature tools set, as well as in Unreal Engine using our Control Rig toolset.
- Take animation from initial concept through implementation in Unreal Engine 5 using our animation blueprint system.
- Drive collaboration across disciplines, including Production, Design, Technical Animation, Technical Design, and implementation to help drive the style and feel of Fortnite's animation.
- Collaborate with leads in a dailies style critique environment, and find optimal solutions and address basic issues as they arise.
- Refine animations and gameplay feel as needed to get the best quality animation within the timeline.
What we’re looking for
- A strong animation reel showing expertise in key-framed character and creature animation.
- Relevant experience in Maya and gameplay systems.
- Good instincts for realistic and stylized motions.
- Familiarity with the Unreal Engine 5 art pipeline.
- Related skills; such as modeling, skinning, and rigging.
- Experience working with Motion Capture is a plus.
- Experience shipping at least one title.

Environment Art Lead

What You'll Do
Epic is looking for an experienced Environment Art Lead to lead the efforts of our Fortnite Environment Art team. The Environment Art Lead will lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary artists to help create and maintain the Environment vision for the game. This person will have a balance of technical capability, creative thinking, and a strong ability to lead a team in developing content for our various Biomes, POIs and various assets and props. By working closely with the Sr. Art Director you will be accountable for understanding the direction for the World, assisting with reviews, offering initial rounds of feedback, interfacing with Design Leads, and ensuring the team maintains a high-quality technical foundation, and visual style.
In this role, you will
- Be highly creative - imagine and help drive the Environment Art vision forward
- Work with Discipline Leads and Outsource partners to keep progress going forward and facilitate engaging player experiences.
- Lead the development for a group of Art Leads, collaborating with them to identify great ideas and steer them through the content development pipeline
- Understand the high level goals of Environment direction; help guide implementation.
- Assist the Art Director with rounds of feedback to streamline work process across all disciplines
- Ensure the core narrative goals and visual pillars of the game are being achieved
- Represent the Art Director when necessary in meetings and discussions
What we're looking for
- Strong understanding of Environment art for games, architecture, integration of natural and manmade environments, innovative and grounded based ideation to create environments that feel fresh and have mass appeal
- Experience working with designers around core game loops.
- Desire to grow your leadership skills.
- Experience shipping Games on multiple platforms, including mobile.
- Deep understanding of performance and optimization trade-offs for best quality, smart approach to maximizing asset reuse, as well as deep knowledge of technical art creation.

- Experience as a Lead overseeing an entire development team, including providing effective feedback for outsourcing and contractors.
