The Welder Helper will be assisting the Thermite Welder with setting up welds, getting materials prepared for any welding needs.

Primary / Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Supports welding and repairs of railway components in a heavy construction environment

Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures rail

Prepares thermite welds

Grinds & finishes thermite welds to specifications

Cuts materials to fit job specifications

Operates equipment per safety policies, rules, and regulations.

Inspects tools & equipment, diagnoses problems and notifies supervisor of the need to the repair tools & equipment.

Keeps records and prepares reports for Quality Control & Tracking

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications

Must be 18 years or older.

A minimum of 2 years of construction experience in railroad, construction, heavy industrial or similar environment

Mechanical aptitude

Ability to understand and follow safety policies, rules, and regulations

Knowledge of welding material and process for thermite welding.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Works outdoors at construction sites

Frequently works in flat, vertical, or overhead positions

Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, and crouches

Uses hands to operate equipment and tools

Performs heavy physical labor; may lift / carry and push / pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds

Exposed to harsh weather conditions including extremely hot and extremely cold weather

Exposed to loud noise, dust, and fumes

Must wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection as required by the company.

Welder - Lead - Off Shift

Who we are looking for :

We are currently looking for a Welder - Lead to be based out of Atlanta, GA. Reporting to Welding Supervisor, this person will be responsible for welding aluminum cable trays, as well as providing direction and guidance to other welders in the department.

The ideal candidate will have 3-years welding experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is desired.

What you’ll do :

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Direct and provide guidance to other welders in the department
  • Perform setup, adjustments and operation of welding machines within the department
  • Ability to use basic fabricating tools (i.e. tape measure)
  • Interpret drawings and fabricate based off blueprints
  • Fabricate per customer requirements adhering to specifications
  • Actively participate in Atkore’s safety program
  • Cross train in different areas of the shop as required
  • Ensure all processes are carried out with the required use of safety controls and PPE

What you’ll bring :

We are currently looking to hire top field welders. Join our team and become a tankee traveling throughout our beautiful country! Compensation : Hourly wage based upon experience and skill set, plus per diem (to cover meals and lodging).

Operating forklifts, man lifts, boom lifts, and other large lifting equipment. Knowledge of crane operations (including rigging and signaling) Reading detailed erection and fabrication drawings.

Planning the sequence and methods of fitting up, welding, repairing, and constructing tanks. Completing job safety analysis, safety audits, site-specific training, and other safety training.

RESPONSIBILITIES
