Supply Chain technician - Mechanic I - Weekend Nights

What You Will Do

The focus of the maintenance team is to keep equipment in the RDC fully operational. The Maintenance Mechanic I is a knowledgeable repair person with exposure to and experience with RDC systems and building components. The Maintenance Mechanic I has specialist knowledge and complex repair capability in one of the following areas: conveyors, rolling stock, or building. In addition, the individual in this role has general knowledge and basic repair capability in the other two areas outside his/her specialty. In all instances, the Maintenance Mechanic I has sufficient electrical and mechanical knowledge to safely and independently repair equipment in the RDC. The Maintenance Mechanic I is able to integrate his/her trade skills, classroom knowledge, and systems experience to recognize and diagnose equipment issues, determine the type of repair needed, prioritize and plan the work, obtain or order the appropriate spare parts, and execute the repair. This individual is capable of mentoring a Maintenance Utility, but also seeks assistance from a Maintenance Mechanic II or the Maintenance Coach, when needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Required to work a set schedule that may be changed/modified by management based on the needs of the facility.

  • Requires on-call support.

  • Must work in a distribution/warehouse environment with the physical and environmental aspects typically associated with such environment.

  • Must be able to use tools and complete maintenance related tasks that require fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

  • Must be able to work safely with corrosive materials and at heights of 20+ feet.

  • Able to see objects and discriminate color

  • Minimally must be able to lift 25 pounds; ability to lift up to 70 pounds.


What You Need To Succeed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a valid state driver’s license

  • 2 years of experience in her/his specialty area

  • Combination of experience and/or technical training in electrical/electronic theory ranging up to 600 volts systems (or willingness to obtain appropriate training within 1 year of employment)

  • If required by local regulations, certified to perform work at the Maintenance Mechanic level (such as electrical work in the state of Oregon)

  • Proven record of complying with safety requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or technical school graduate

  • Experience and/or certification with welding and fabrication

  • Certification for electrical work and/or high voltage work

  • Experience operating various maintenance and operations vehicles and equipment

  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings

What You Will Do

The focus of the maintenance team is to keep equipment in the RDC fully operational. The RDC Maintenance Utility is an entry-level position for the Maintenance organization that initially requires entry level mechanical and electrical aptitude, basic tool knowledge, as well as the desire and ability to work with and learn from others. The individual in this role will be trained in safety protocols and basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing concepts, while performing simple preventive maintenance tasks such as forklift battery and light bulb replacement. Note: Some states have specific regulations concerning this type of work, and those regulations will supersede the training noted here if applicable. Through on-the-job experiences, this individual will gain a more detailed understanding of the RDC building structures, systems, and equipment, and will progress from simple, to basic, to more complex, preventive maintenance tasks. This individual also has the opportunity to work with Maintenance Mechanics to develop basic repair skills and assist with more complex maintenance activities.

Travel Requirements: This role does not require regular overnight travel.

  • Requires availability to work morning, afternoon, nights, or weekends depending upon assigned shift and overtime based on the needs of the facility.

  • Experience operating various maintenance and operations vehicles and equipment

  • Experience using hand and power tools
