Security Psychologist
The Role
As a Security Psychologist you will be part of an innovative team embedded within the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).
You will provide subject matter expertise, in relation to psychological advice, which informs the vetting process for Whole of Government National Security Clearances.
You will demonstrate sound decision making and judgement whilst conducting, consulting, and advising on, psychological assessments, and analyses, within an integrated workforce.
You will receive additional remuneration, above the APS 6 bandwidth, dependent on qualifications and approval, ranging from 15% - 40% of the standard APS 6 salary range.
You will also receive paid professional development opportunities, AHPRA registration, and APS membership(s).
The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace.
Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA).
This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review.
Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased.
It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence.
Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease.

AGSVA's Psychological Services is a small cohesive team in a highly dynamic and fast-paced work environment. We deliver high volumes of psychological assessments, and advice, as part of a Whole of Government personnel security vetting service.

We are seeking an individual who is able to consult, advise on, and conduct, psychological assessments, and analyses, within an integrated workforce.
Knowledge of, and compliance with, psychological best practice including ethical, legal and professional standards are required.
The demonstrated ability to comply with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence’s mission and policy requirements are highly regarded.
As you will be responsible for interpreting and applying policy to practices and procedures, as well as providing subject matter expert advice to vetting staff, sound decision making and judgement are essential.

Your Career
The DNS Security Research team is responsible for delivering high quality content to our products to prevent successful cyberattacks, with a special focus on DNS security, network security, privacy protection, etc.
We design, build, and maintain various detection systems and data infrastructures to protect customers against constantly evolving threats and attacks.
Your Impact
- Track and research emerging threats and innovate new ways to identify malicious indicators used by malware and attacks, including domains, URLs, IP addresses, sha256, email addresses, etc.
- Design and build scalable and extensible prevention / detection systems
- Leverage data-driven approaches, such as statistical analysis, machine learning, and other advanced techniques
- Convert research results and discoveries into products, research papers, etc.
Your Experience
- BS / MS in Computer Science or related fields with security research experience or equivalent military experience - PhD in Cyber Security or Machine Learning is a plus
- Creative thinker and team player. Have great passion and be highly self-motivated in data-driven security research
- Expertise in DNS and DNS security
- Good knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Trees, Logistic Regression, Deep Learning, and Boosting
- Excellent programming skills in Python, Shell script, Go, or SQL
- Understanding of core network protocols (TCP / IP, HTTP / HTTPS, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience with modern databases and big data tools, such as MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, BigQuery
- Be comfortable working independently, efficiently
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
- Experience with malware traffic analysis is a plus
- Experience with graph database (e.g. Neo4j, Amazon Neptune), graph-based analysis is a plus
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform is a plus
- Proven success (past publication record, open source project contributions) is a big plus

Looking for a Security Officer who is available to work swing shift or grave shift Monday through Friday in Milpitas and on the weekends, we have day shift, swing shift, and grave shift available.

Description
Information Security Intern
Monitor and analyze security events and alerts to identify potential security incidents or breaches.
Review logs from servers and firewalls for any malware traffic
Analyze SIEM logs to review overall systems for potential misconfigurations
Log analysis
GOAL : The Intern will understand how to analyze common log formats to identify suspicious traffic and events.
OBJECTIVE : By the end of the internship the Intern should be able to :
- Review web server logs to identify normal vs suspicious traffic.
- Review Linux server logs to identify normal vs suspicious events.
- Review Windows server / workstation logs to identify normal vs suspicious events.
OUTCOME : The Intern will be able to work as an entry-level security analyst who is able to review various system logs and

SIEM tools
GOAL : The goal is to familiarize with SIEM technology and how it is used in an enterprise setting.
OBJECTIVE : The Intern will be introduced to both systems and taught how to analyze traffic and incidents. After an introduction, the Intern should be able to create custom alerts and dashboards based on data collected in the SIEM tool.
OUTCOME : Power Integrations, Inc. use a SIEM tool as the core of monitoring operation. By the end of the internship, the Intern should understand the basics of how to search, understand, and report on data presented through a SIEM tool.
Requirements :
- A college student enrolled in a program for Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or comparable discipline.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both in writing and speech.
- Good understanding of Windows and MS Office applications is must.
- A good understanding of Linux.
- Should have a basic understanding of networking, including how to configure WIFI and networking.
