POSITION OVERVIEW

Provide evaluation, consultative, and counseling services in the school setting. Conduct psycho-educational evaluations and lead the multidisciplinary team in the process of identifying students as eligible for and in need of special education services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the multidisciplinary evaluation team (MET) through the evaluation process when a student is referred for a special education evaluation.
  • Complete comprehensive evaluations and use professional judgment in order to identify areas that need additional data collected.
  • Participate in Legacy Traditional School non-violent crisis response team if trained.
  • Conduct classroom observations as part of the special education evaluation process, child study team (CST) process and as a consultative process.
  • Prepare cohesive and timely evaluation reports.
  • Interpret assessment data and impart it to parents and MET members in a meaningful way.
  • Identify students’ needs and develop programming recommendations based on evaluation outcomes.
  • Lead the school team in the development and implementation of behavior plans.
  • Lead the school’s pre-referral intervention team.
  • Provide counseling services in alignment with student’s IEPs and / or 504 plans.
  • Provide school based counseling in accordance with pre-referral intervention or informally.
  • Facilitate training on topics related to position on an as-needed basis.
  • Provide consultative services to teachers and administrators regarding behavioral and academic concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned by the deputy superintendent of exceptional student services, special education coordinator, principal, school psychologist coordinator.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education, Licensure, or Certification

Master’s degree in Education required, educational specialist, certificate of advanced graduate studies or sixth year professional certificate preferred

Nevada Department of Education School Psychologist Certificate

The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.

Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Work Experience or Related Experience

Experience conducting psycho-educational evaluations

Knowledge of IDEA and K-8 programming for special education

Responsibilities

You will have the opportunity to help build the behavioral health components of our NEW Family Medicine residency! The position will include administrative, teaching, resident supervision and clinical responsibilities.

Advanced individual and group counseling skills are required. Applicants must also have experience in teaching and observation of the doctor / patient interaction and skills in accessing community resources.

Position Summary :

The behavioral health faculty is responsible for assisting the Program Director / Associate Program Director with the development of the behavioral health components of the residency.

Develop and implement the behavioral science curriculum and through this maintains clinical expertise in behavioral science

Provides major teaching emphasis on interpersonal relationships, counseling and psychosocial assessment

Develops and implements curriculum for psychosocial longitudinal experience as well as other block rotations such as community medicine or behavioral health

Counsels residents in areas of well-being to meet the ACGME Guidelines for resident wellness

Chairs the GMEC Well-being committee

Reviews resident encounters and utilizes a psychosocial observation form to provide residents with feedback on their encounters

Prepare and teach lectures on various behavioral health topics (e.g DNR, depression screening, stress / fatigue, CBT)

Engages in Scholarly work

Maintains a small clinical practice (50%) to keep up to date on skills (During your clinical time you will have residents with you as you provide counseling to patients)

Participates in Clinical Competency Committee and Program Evaluation Committee

Participates in Videoprecepting of residents as they see their patients in the office

Assists in orientation of new residents

Participates in resident assessments and evaluations

Participates in faculty development sessions

Assist in resident recruitment and selection of applicants to the residency program

Other duties as necessary to support the family medicine residency

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Three years clinical experience in area of specialty.
  • Doctorate (PhD) - Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
  • LIC PSYCHO logist - Current unrestricted license in the State of Nevada as Clinical Psychologist.
  • Previous faculty development / experience.
  • Hold and maintain national certification under NV regulations.

Preferred Qualifications :

Two years experience in a health care / medical education setting.

Teaching experience preferred
