The Opportunity

The Production Scheduler will develop and maintain schedules and provide reporting on production job costing for the automated packaging machine facility in Orlando.

How you will impact WestRock :

• Participate with production team to generate schedules for production projects.
• Generate Gantt chart schedules for production projects and for customer communications.
• Provide scheduling of strategic and critical projects and systems.
• Provide project status and support to all project stakeholders including but not limited to : Sales, Design Engineers, Project Managers, Customers, Contractors, and others.
• Analyze project costs and provide feedback on project performance.
• Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions and acting as a technical liaison to management and others.
• Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, making decisions about purchases of materials or services, and assists with the development and implementation of departmental budgets.
• Support efficiencies via process change, automation, etc.
• Support project schedule and costs for items relating to application.
• Assist in cost reduction and quality improvement of projects for our processes and machinery.
• Other job duties as assigned; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

What you need to succeed :

• Bachelor's Degree from accredited institution or, 5+ years’ experience related work in Production Scheduling
• Professional approach with experience in project scheduling for multi project production.
• Experience in Production and Manufacturing processes and execution.
• Proficient in MS Project and Excel - Required.
• MRP or ERP software platforms - Required.
• Must have effective customer service skills (i.e. excellent written and verbal communication skills, high emotional intelligence, positive attitude and a service leadership philosophy).
• Self-motivated, quick to deliver and a team player.
• Able to demonstrate a high level of integrity, and a penchant for high quality.
• Must possess a strong work ethic and a high level of self-accountability.
• Proficient in MS Office Software including Project planning software.

What You’ll Get to Do :

• Coordinate forecast and build at risk meetings to drive the discussion and data collection needed to independently analyze, distill and communicate order and forecast information to accurately drive the majority of materials procurement within Product Solutions
• Coordinate and communicate customer action plans with Buyers and Planners
• Analyze unique supply & demand needs and collaborate with buyers to form an action deriving appropriate material availability dates
• Provide backup Product Line Management support
• Coordinate weekly with Program Management on forecast and orders
• Create costed BOMs in support of costing / pricing exercises
• Request creation of configuration and advanced procurement BOMs. Review for accuracy and completeness
• Review customer contracts / orders and generate shipping work instructions per contract requirement configuration
• Manage order specific data and life-cycles within the Order Management System
• Present, solicit, and assess feedback on the various forecasts from Management Team
• Develop policies and procedures and updating existing documents
• Coordinate expedited order requests and unplanned demand
• Work closely with the Materials Team to ensure shipment delays are identified and action plans are implemented
• Travel to other LGS locations or customer sites as necessary
• If required, obtain / retain a government security clearance at the level required to perform the duties of the position

Skills and Knowledge :

Production Manager shall be responsible for the scheduling, and planning of field operations across their assigned region.

Directly supervises Foremen and Crew Leads.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, schedule and bid proposal with the project team
• Monitor all daily activities of assigned projects. Provide direction and oversight to the Foremen as it pertains to their specific project duties
• Manage labor costs, forecast labor requirements, and recruit labor as necessary to complete projects goals
• Implement and comply with the company safety program with a positive attitude towards project safety for all personnel and the public.
• Communicate safety and compliance concerns to the company
• Oversee the submission of required company documents (i.e. timesheets, etc.)
• Administer all personnel issues as it pertains to company expectations related to field operations
• Manage vacations, sick leave, personal days and leaves of absence requested from field personnel
• Monitor potential changes to contract, project conditions and scope of work and advise the Project Manager of such changes.
• Advise the Project Manager of possible claims or disputes and provide documentation as requested
• Obtain daily production information from Foreman and crews
• Track the project schedule and keep the Project Manager informed of progress
• Review job cost reports with the Project Manager to assure accuracy and address any deviations from project estimations
• Able to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of employee’s and direct them in a positive way to become a productive member of the company
• Travel to job sites around the country to review the work as well as the workers.

Requirements

What You'll Do

What You'll Need

• Minimum of 1-year previous managerial or supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing environments, preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
• Minimum 3 years previous experience in an industrial / outdoor work environment and operating heavy equipment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
• Excellent administrative and computer skills with strong organization skills and a demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
• Ability to interface effectively with customers and company personnel at all levels.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
• Strong mechanical abilities (welding, fabrication, knowledge of tools, etc.) if applying to a shredder facility.
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency with the flexibility to work off hours, weekends, and holidays : including overtime and six days a week as required by production.
