Position Summary : Reporting to the Sr Director, Medical Affairs - Pipeline, this role will help shape, in collaboration with new product and program asset planning teams, Horizon's global footprint by bringing therapies to patients and their treating physicians around the world.
Responsibilities : This role is responsible for providing strategic medical and scientific leadership for Horizon's pipeline assets while also spearheading various cross-portfolio deliverables and projects.
The successful candidate should have prior experience working in a cross functional dynamic environment with a focus on both strategic and tactical execution.
In addition, this pipeline role includes coordinating with New Product Planning and Program teams utilizing cross functional Medical Affairs resources to develop scientific platforms, conference / pub plans, HEOR / evidence generation, mapping KOL development, HCP disease state awareness, planning and go-to-market needs across target markets.
This individual will represent medical affairs on the program development and study teams for the pipeline assets to provide real world insights into the development plan.
Serving as the bridge between the R&D team and the rest of medical affairs for pipeline assets, this role will ensure bidirectional exchange for internal alignment, content, insight generation, KOL / advocacy engagements and site trial investigator recommendations.
Qualifications and Skills Required :
- M.D., PhD., or PharmD required
- Minimum 7+ years of Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Rare or complex disease experience preferred
- Experience in leading US or Global Medical Affairs teams preferred
- International launch experience desired, particularly in EU, JPAC and LATAM markets
- Travel up to 20%, may require travel outside of the US
- Experience with International alliances, partnerships and distributors is helpful
- Demonstrated self-starter with strong entrepreneurial mindset

Summary
Responsible to BCBS Plan and other key stakeholders to provide clinical expertise and leadership for medical affairs strategy development and implementation.
Serves as a thought and opinion leader to provide clinical leadership and support to internal and external strategic initiatives in support of BCBSA and BCBS Plans.
Works collaboratively with other medical directors to provide consultative leaders to the development of evidence-based reference medical policy information.
Designs and implements innovative solutions that enable BCBS Plans to be proactive and that also enable industry leadership.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Medical Affairs Leadership-Responsible to BCBS Plan and other key stakeholders to provide clinical expertise and leadership for medical affairs strategy
development and implementation. Serves as a thought and opinion leader to provide clinical leadership and support to internal and external strategic
initiatives in support of BCBSA and BCBS Plans. Provides clinical guidance and support to initiatives that address public health issues. Implements deliverables
in support of BCBSA Board strategies and OCA key initiatives.
Reference Medical Consultation-Collaborates with other medical directors to provide consultative leader and direction to Medical Policy Service in the
development of evidence-based reference medical policy information.
Communication Management-Publication : Manage and undertake process improvement for the internal communication on timelines, evidentiary review,
and deliverables. BCBSA Board Strategies : deliver the identified content in support of the BCBSA Board Strategies, including precision medicine and medical
policy management.
Ensure strong Thought Leader (TL) relationships; develop and nurture relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and consultants in the clinical
community in order to strengthen BCBSA’s leadership position; serve as a professional representative of OCA in the healthcare community. Share
responsibility with Clinical Operations for decisions regarding the recruitment and retention of pharmaceutical, medical device, and diagnostic companies to
our Evidence Street subscriber platform portfolio, as well as new business opportunities and strategies for product / platform development.
Required Education, Certifications and Experience
A minimum of 5 years health plan experience, as Medical Director or Medical Consultant with responsibility
Experience in representing Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations to consumers, businesses, providers and media

Demonstrated knowledge and experience of interaction of clinical operations with other Plan functions including but not limited to medical management, medical policy, legal, marketing, media, government relations, provider contracting etc.

In this role as a Medical Technologist, under the direction of a lab manager, you will collect, evaluate, process, cryopreserve, and re-infuse unique cellular therapy products that are vital to patient recovery and survival.
Operating within the Hematopoietic Cellular Therapy Program, we support both the adult and pediatric programs, and provide our patients the latest cellular therapy products for the treatment of benign and malignant diseases.
Job Summary
Routinely performs a wide range of clinical analyses in all sections of the laboratory by properly utilizing a variety of methodologies and instrumentation according to laboratory policies and procedures and in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements in order to provide results of the highest level of quality to physicians and their patients.
Primary responsibilities include culture and susceptibility testing, specimen processing, and rapid testing to support infectious disease and immunology testing.
Essential Job Functions
Receives specimens submitted to laboratory. Utilizes policies and procedures for requisition and specimen requirements to determine whether the submitted specimen can be processes for analysis.
Assures proper storage and procedures for specimens that cannot be immediately analyzed.
- Conducts preliminary specimen preparations for the analytical process through centrifugation of blood specimens, aliquotting of blood and body fluids and distribution of the prepared specimens to the appropriate sections of the laboratory.
- Answers inquiries regarding specimen handling, results and other technical information. Appropriately assists clinicians with requests and seeks out resources necessary when information is not available to answer questions.
- Performs all procedures designated under CLIA'88 rules as moderate or highly complex testing; knows all responsibilities as outlined in the laboratory procedure manual necessary to perform these procedures with highest level of quality within turnaround time goals set by the laboratory.
- Practices the proficient and safe use of all equipment necessary for the completion of all duties and responsibilities by following all maintenance, safety and quality controls policies and procedures.
- Prepares and maintains adequate stock of reagents, standards, and control materials for the performance of testing at assigned workstation and notifies supervisor of any shortages or problems.
- Analyzes all test and quality control results for errors, inconsistencies and deviations prior to reporting results. Initiates and documents troubleshooting and problem solving to resolve issues.
- Reports all test results in the laboratory information system according to laboratory policies and procedures, within stated turn-around times, and follows appropriate backup procedures during computer downtimes.
- Communicates any pertinent information or problems with laboratory staff and supervisors in a respectful and proactive manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications :
- Must satisfy CLIA 88 qualification requirements for testing personnel performing high complexity testing.
- Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge and ability to use automated and conventional laboratory equipment and laboratory testing methodologies.
- Knowledge and ability to use laboratory / hospitals information systems.
- Exceptional organizational ability, with attention to detail mandatory.
- Ability to work in high volume, stressful situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of pertinent laboratory experience and previous Chemistry experience preferred.

Qualified Medical Physicist - Medical Physics
Responsibilities
- Conducting quality assurance surveys for the imaging equipment listed above, including the following tasks : testing of image quality and machine performance, quality control and calibration, and safety surveys.
- Training hospital staff on performance of routine QC techniques, Radiation Safety, HazMat Shipping and Handling, or MRI safety.
- Conduct Radiation Protection Surveys.
- Supports Radiation Safety Committee and Radiation Right as a Radiation Safety Officer or as an invited advisor for consultation on Radiation Safety and imaging safety as requested.
- Provide guidance, within their scope of practice, at radiation safety committee meetings or to hospital staff or physicians regarding radiation exposure and safety.
- Provide guidance for the radiation safety program including membership on applicable committees, such as :
- Patient of Facility Safety Committee, Radiation Safety Committee, Radioactive Drug Research Committee, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee, Disaster Committee, Cancer Care Committee, and the Institutional Review Board.
- Consultation with physicians and other medical staff regarding radiation exposure and safety.
- Consultation with the radiologist and radiation oncologist concerning patient dose determinations
- Researching, developing, and evaluating new imaging or analytical techniques
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in medical physics, radiologic physics, physics, or other relevant physical science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution, and, formal coursework in the biological sciences with at least : 1 course in biology or radiation biology, and 1 course in anatomy, physiology, or similar topics related to the practice of medical physics.
