Litigation Legal Secretary / Paralegal, Chicago, IL

FordHarrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm, seeks a full-time litigation legal secretary / paralegal for its Chicago office.

The assistant will provide direct support to up to three attorneys. This position offers a hybrid work schedule.

Compensation :

$68,000 - $73,000 yearly

Responsibilities :

  • Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to;
  • Finalizing correspondence
  • Preparing TOCs / TOAs
  • Entering billable time
  • Managing the conflicts check process for new matters
  • Maintaining case files
  • E-filing (both state and federal)
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • The assistant works closely with the attorneys’ assigned billing specialist

Qualifications :

  • The ideal candidate must have;
  • At least three-five solid years of litigation experience
  • Be highly motivated
  • Dedicated
  • Hard-working
  • Comfortable working in a team environment
  • Candidates must have intermediate to advance MS Office skills - with exceptional knowledge of Excel
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written)
  • Be able to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of the firm's document management program, iManage / FileSite, as well as its time and billing system, Aderant, are a plus

Qualifications

  • Must have 3 - 5 years if recent Legal Assistant / Secretary experience in insurance defense and coverage litigation (some appellate experience is a plus)
  • Familiarity with legal procedures, terminology, and the court system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with document management experience
  • Excellent research skills
