Job Summary : Looking for an experienced Sr. Production Welder for setting up and running low volume production work. Must be a team member putting forth safety and quality foremost in daily assignments.

Responsible for metal fabrication and welding of rolling stock equipment and components in accordance with AWS , FRA and Amtrak standards and guidelines.

- Performs truck and bolster repair, side frames, gear pans, cut levers, coupler repair, draft gear wear plates
- Uses overhead cranes for lifting of metal plates and structural steel
- Reads blueprints and drawings and works from design and layout of templates and fixtures
- Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with assigned job

- Capable of performing job duties in a safe and professional manner.

- No prior welding experience is required.
- Must have the ability to read precision instruments and gauges with a background in heavy mechanical / electrical machines and equipment.
- Perform QA inspections as required.
- Candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Candidate will set up and perform weld operations including moving jack stands into place prior to making welds, cleaning and removing ballast rocks in the work area, vehicle maintenance, and cleaning, truck movement while on track from work site to work site, grinding welds as needed.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- A valid class A driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Basic computer skills
- Track experience preferred
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and customers.
- Fill out and organize work reports
- Must be able to travel 90% of time
- Ability to pass drug screening and background check. High School Diploma / GED required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Works both indoors and outdoors
- Travels to field locations to provide repairs or maintenance
- Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and handling of materials, equipment, and tools
- Uses hands and fingers to operate equipment and tools involved in repairs
- Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery, and tools up to 50 pounds
- Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts
- Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel
- May be exposed to harsh weather conditions
- May be exposed to loud noise.
