WorkSkill is currently looking to hire 10 Welders for our client in Orlando, FL.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Perform welding duties using wire welding GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Core Arc
  • Welding), or SMAW (Stick Welding).
  • Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by procedures, layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, or oral instructions.

Welds range from simple tacks to complex welds, performed in varying positions.

  • Work includes set-up, laying out work using fixtures and guides to repair, modify, or fabricate parts and / or equipment products.
  • Acquire welding certification by the Client's Assurance Dept. for the type of welding assigned. American
  • Welding Society 3G / 3F certification skills are the minimum requirement for all welding positions.
  • Operate and / or use related equipment and tools which include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable &
  • bench), cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, a tape measure, and Air Arc.
  • Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follow manufacturers
  • instructions; troubleshoot malfunctions; call for repairs and complete the daily check sheets.
  • Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and procedures.
  • Maintain level of work performance in accordance with company standards and / or job order specifications.
  • Participate in process and product development and improvement programs, teams, and focus groups.
  • Use a computer mouse to access and open / close computer documents.
  • Perform or assist in other assigned duties as qualified.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Essential Functions of the Job (with or without reasonable accommodation)

  • Perform work standing on concrete a minimum of 8 hours and up to 12 hours per day, and a minimum of 4 days up to 6 days per week.
  • Willingness to train or work during hours outside of regularly-scheduled core shift.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours beyond and consecutively with core work schedule when needed.
  • Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks or positions in the Company outside of or in addition to primarily-assigned position, work area, or department.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform work safely in accordance with all Company safety policies, procedures, and Personal Protective
  • Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Perform work in various physical positions including standing, kneeling, squatting, bending, and reaching (temporary variances may be accommodated based on employee’s primary assignment).
  • Perform work in heavy industrial setting with exposure to heat, cold, and humidity, industrial odors, fumes, gasses, chemicals, oil, grease, smoke, dust, noise, and vibration, and involves climbing ladders and stairs, using pneumatic tools, working in cramped quarters, and working with moving machinery.
  • Ability to wear the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for this position, including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety boots with metatarsal guards, face shield, welding helmet, welding gloves, welding sleeves / jacket (leather or cloth), and welding apron / chaps.

A respirator may also be required.

  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools and devices, including a welding gun.
  • Ability to read and comprehend a tape measure. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to understand welding symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and / or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts.

Education and Experience :

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Welding experience required.
  • Heavy equipment manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse, and locate and open / close files.

Primary work assignment will require employees to frequently push / pull / lift from the floor to the table, and lift from table to shoulder level, up to 45 pounds.

Employees may occasionally push / pull / lift below or above shoulder level greater than 45 pounds if they are physically able to safely do it.

Employees are encouraged to use caution at all times when pushing / pulling / lifting. Please consider the size, shape, weight of the object to be pushed / pulled / lifted, the path and the distance you must travel along with your own physical ability.

If necessary, please seek assistance with pushing / pulling / lifting tasks. Employees should never lift more than they are physically able to handle safely.

Welder Wage Group 1 (Apprentice) : Must pass a flat-weld bend test. Must be capable of making adjustments to the welding machine for different materials and thicknesses.

Must be able to operate a cutting torch and a grinder. Blueprint reading and comprehension of blueprint measurements and symbols required.

Must be able to read work orders and bills of material. Minimum set-up skills used, limited to jobs with few parts or work made in fixtures.

Expected to do set-up when using jigs and fixtures. May help Wage Group 3 welders with set-up, but not in charge of job.
