What's expected and what you'll be up to

  • Provide an epic experience for our guests at all times
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet
  • Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table / seat / station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and dress code of assigned outlet
  • Competently open and serve wine / champagne bottles
  • Fully knowledgeable in standard cocktail recipes, wine lists, spirits, other alcoholic beverages, garnishes and presentations
  • Interact with Sailors and provide beverage information, promoting drinks and / or upselling premium brands. They will also suggest alternative cocktails that aren’t visible on the menu
  • Ensure that all bar products, equipment and cleaning materials are used in a cost effective manner
  • Ensures that Sailor orders are correctly entered into the system and monitors tab for any corrections necessary
  • Carries out clear down routines after service and ensures the appearance and condition of all items including glasses and bottles meet Virgin Voyages standards
  • Be familiar with all cruise services / features and activations to respond to Sailor inquiries accurately
  • Notifies Bar Supervisor of any complaints raised and seeks to resolve
  • Mentors junior members of the Bar team and provides training where required
  • Ensures that their bar area is properly stocked, set up and ready to open as scheduled
  • Responsible for any shortcomings related to inventory, equipment or cash handling
  • Ensures compliance with the Company alcohol policy and notifies Bar Supervisor when
  • Sailors / Crew are in danger of breaching
  • Assists with inventory stock checks and requisitions relating to bar equipment, items and consumables
  • Ensures Public Health standards of work stations are met

Hotel Utility

Job Summary

The Gig

The Hotel Utility works in Food & Beverage and Housekeeping, in both front and back of the house. Schedules and specific duties are assigned on a rotational basis, with expectations being that all Hotel Utilities will work in both departments during the contract.

What's expected and what you'll be up to

Essential Responsibilities :

When assigned to the Galley Areas :

  • Carries out the cleaning operation for all equipment and machinery within the Food & Beverage department including but not limited to Galley outlets, Galley consumables and all work orders in all Galleys, Outlets and Crew dining areas.
  • Carries out the daily cleaning procedures and maintenance of all Galleys, Outlets, Bars and Crew dining areas ensuring compliance with company policies and the latest Health and Sanitation regulations (USPH) at all times.
  • Ensures they follow the garbage segregation policy when dealing with waste.
  • Reports significant public health issues to the Sanitation Officer.
  • Follows Integrated Pest Management procedures at all times.
  • Notifies Kitchen Steward of any breakages or losses of tableware to ensure stock levels are well maintained.
  • Works according to the standards set out by USPH and HACCP.
  • Reports to Head Cleaner any defects or repairs that affect the daily operation in the galley and that potentially violate USPH and / or SMS requirements.

When assigned to Housekeeping Public Areas :

  • Carries out cleaning of public areas including but not limited to atriums, public walkways and other public spaces.
  • Daily vacuuming, sanitizing, garbage removal and dusting / polishing of all public areas.
  • Carries out cleaning and maintenance of carpets and floors in public areas including shampooing, stripping, waxing etc.
  • Assists in the handling and distribution of Sailor luggage on embarkation / disembarkation.
  • Follows and ensures correct storage via COSWOPP when handling and / or using cleaning chemicals.
  • Keeps all cleaning equipment well maintained and reports any defects to the Public Area Manager

Additional Responsibilities :

  • Attends passenger functions as required by Head of Department.
  • Partake in inspections, trainings and meetings as required by Head of Department.
  • Ensures that the set standards are kept and staff members work according to their respective job descriptions.

Ultimately, we wont be able to remember how we got by without you.What Youll be Up To : The Deputy Security Officer (DSO) shall have an understanding of the VMS (Virgin Management System), including his / her responsibilities in the Emergency Organization.

Excellent understanding of the companys policies and a thorough knowledge of the ISPS code are essential for this position.

The DSO serves as an alternate and back up to the Ship Security Officer.The DSO attends to all Security matters such as Access control onboard and to the vessel;

This includes restricted areas onboard and the integrity of all access points to the vessel.The DSO serves as a specialist with regards to shipboard access control, security screening procedures, equipment maintenance, operational training and quality including X-ray CBT modules and Inert threat items testing.

As directed by the Security Officer, the DSO will lead or assist in investigating and documenting security incidents, crime allegations or security matters onboard and liaising with local authorities and law enforcement agencies.

The DSO ensures onboard conduct policies are adhered to; this includes Drugs & Alcohol policy, testing of crew members, participating in conduct meetings or hearings and taking actions as needed.

As directed by the Security Officer, the DSO will lead or assist in investigating and documenting personal injury incidents onboard or ashore.

The DSO is responsible to train and assign personnel in gangway duties and general ship security tasks.The DSO shall supervise the work schedules for the security supervisors and crew and ensure compliance with all company policies and MLC.

The DSO is responsible for documenting any issues with security crew, issue action plans or corrective action as needed.As directed by the Security Officer, the DSO will provide Security Awareness training to all new and returning Crew members and other Security related training to other departments as needed.

The DSO will strive for a high standard of Security Operations onboard with emphasis on the Security department training, coaching and development.

The Deputy Security Officer will convey Virgin Voyages values and ensure the fair treatment of all crew onboard while maintaining a safe and secure environment for all persons onboard.

Super Powers Required : At least 3 years of professional experience in either Military, Law enforcement, Physical security in a managerial role.

Must have good knowledge of various security equipment including checkpoint and cargo X-ray screening and metal detection, CCTV surveillance, Trace detection, Defensive Equipment.

Knowledge of Counter terror measures, anti smuggling measures, access control and physical assessment of a facility.Knowledge of the maritime industry, ISPS Code, MTSA, CVSSA, Must have a valid or able to acquire a Ship Security Officers (SSO) training certificate.

Candidate must have all required STCW certificates for this positionKnowledge and experience in training methods, effective delivery of a lecture and or presentation to newcrew and members or management - Preferable to have or acquire a Train the trainer certificate or equivalent documentation.

Proven experience in investigations, Interview techniques, statements, civil / criminal law and managing of an incident or emergency response - Must have a valid or able to acquire an Incident Management and evidence collectiontraining certificate.

Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with all persons and use conflict resolution and mitigation techniques when needed and de-escalate situations.

Knowledge of common practices involved with security functions, events, crowd control.Ability to manage direct reports and build successful teams in a positive and productive manner by motivating, developing and effectively managing people.

Ability to utilize and administer the companys disciplinary process through coaching, counseling, action plans and corrective actions.

TECHNOLOGY LITERATE - Candidate must have proven ability to navigate easily in a technology oriented environment, be able to learn new applications and respond to technology issues.

Systems used on a daily basis include office, Google Docs, Sheets, Forms and Drive, Milestone CCTV Video management, VisionLine RFID Key systems, Body Camera systems, AMOS, PMS, Access control and Visitor management systems.
