The Medical Assistant, under direct supervision of a physician or other medical personnel, performs routine patient care functions such as physician assistance, patient placement, testing, information gathering, nursing duties, chaperoning, supply maintenance, and scheduling.
May coordinate schedules of patients in an outpatient clinic and provide clerical assistance toward the smooth operation of the facility.

Representative Duties :
Physician Assistance. Assists physician or other medical personnel in the examination process as required or necessary.
Patient Placement. Places patients in exam rooms. Drapes and positions patients for appropriate exams or procedures. Assists in restraining or controlling patients (infants, children, geriatrics, etc.).
Test Performance. Performs simple routine tests on patients such as audiograms, vision, spirometer, EKG, rapid strep, urinalysis, and urine pregnancy tests.
Information Gathering. Obtains and records vital signs including body temperature, height, weight, and blood pressure. Takes and documents complaints and patient histories including allergies, immunization histories, etc.
Maintains patient confidentiality. Receives and returns telephone calls from or to patients, pharmacies, etc. Obtains authorizations and referrals.
Nursing. Performs various nursing duties such as PFT and PT / INR testing and administration of injections.
Chaperoning. Chaperones examinations and patients.
Supply Maintenance. Responsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, ordering supplies, and sterilizing instruments and / or equipment.
Scheduling. Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities.
As Needed. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements
Education :
High School diploma or GED or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
Experience :
6 months experience in Patient Care as a Medical Assistant or 6 months performing electronic order entry as a qualified ABR-OE.
Certifications / Licenses :
CPR Certified and / or BLS. Certified as a Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, or qualified ABR-OE, or ability to obtain the certification within 90 days of employment in the position.
Equivalent / Substitution : Will accept a student who has completed an internship / externship and graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program in lieu of required experience.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES / AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS :

This position will be instrumental in our management of the pharmacy call center for the state Medicaid population, as well as being responsible for answering calls from Medicaid members and providers with a goal of achieving one call resolution.
The Pharmacy Call Center Rep provides support to patients, providers, and Pharmacy Staff by maintaining information, participating in surveys, resolving problems, cross training, and attending meetings. Duties :
- Provides support to patients and providers.
- Responds to oral and written inquiries from the user community regarding Medicaid issues and related problems.
- Answers inquiries to include but not limited to Federal rules and regulations, Medicaid, managed care, and fee-for-service.
- Answers provider questions regarding medical claims. Provides support to the Pharmacy staff.
- Answers telephone calls, determines nature of call, and directs caller.
- May perform clerical duties.
- Maintains information about providers.
- Stays abreast of constantly changing Medicaid fee-for-service and managed care rule revisions in order to provide accurate information.

The Dispatcher assists with emergency calls, service requests, and incident process. Assist with maintaining records, locking and unlocking buildings, and monitoring security cameras and alarms.
Duties :
- Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) by fulfilling training and reporting obligations related to campus safety protocols.
- Serves as a 911 dispatcher and assists with emergency calls, service requests, and incidents by using radio and / or telephone.
- Receives and prioritizes simultaneous calls on multiple instruments and dispatches responses to calls for service and to alarms.
- Determines whether an emergency is in the dispatch service area and provides accurate and clear directions to specific locations.
- Relays records and information to officers in the field.
- Facilitates communication with other public safety agencies.
- Uses a computer to record all requests for services, other incidents, and emergencies.
- Controls police radio frequencies, records and monitors all radio transmissions and incoming telephone calls and maintains required logs and records.
