The University of Illinois at Chicago, Facilities Management is seeking to fill an Electrician position. The Electrician is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of electrically powered systems, and equipment including distribution systems and equipment.

Must have knowledge and follow accepted procedures and techniques of the electrical trade.

Duties & Responsibilities :

The electrician repairs, and maintains electrical equipment, distribution systems, controls, and signal equipment. He / she inspects the work site and determines material and tools requirements, and methods of repair.

The electrician lays out work, assembles equipment, and fabricates distribution runs. The electrician is responsible for transporting tools, material, and equipment to the work site.

The electrician installs new work, repairs electrical equipment, and completes small remodeling work. He / she inspects the work site and determines material, equipment, and tool requirements and method to be used.

The Electrician plans, lays out, installs, and assembles material and fixtures as required by scope of work.

The electrician repairs, maintains and calibrates electrically operated controls and devices, such as communication devices, signals devices, fire warning and security devices, patient care equipment as required.

Perform related duties as required within classification specifications.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications Required :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman Electrician, with a minimum of five (5) years (60 months) of actual work in the trade, including apprenticeship or vocational training.

The trade for this purpose shall include work normally performed by Electricians i.e. installing, maintaining, and / or repairing electrical systems, generators, transformers, motors and other electrical / electronic controls, electrical switchboard and other apparatus utilizing electricity, electrical, electronic and direct digital control systems, fire and alarm systems, and associated electrical, electronic and fiber optic equipment.

Description : Position Summary

Position Summary

The Postdoc Research Associate will be involved in the development and application of computational methods to identify bioactive compounds and study their mechanisms of action.

The Postdoc Research Associate will use computational methods for protein and peptide design, will perform virtual screening of compound libraries, will investigate mechanisms of actions through in silico docking and free energy calculations, as well as investigate structure and dynamics of protein-ligand interactions with molecular dynamics simulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Development and application of computational methods for protein, peptide, and small molecule design.
  • Development of Machine Learning models for establishing structure-activity relationships of bioactive compounds.
  • Performing Molecular Dynamics simulations to study biological questions and predict mechanism of action of bioactive compounds.
  • Writing manuscripts and review articles related to research topics of the lab.
  • Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate students in computational methods.
  • Keeping accurate record of the experiments suitable for writing manuscripts and grant proposals
  • Presenting the results at scientific meeting.
  • Participate in the weekly lab meetings, Journal Clubs and common seminars of the Department.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications

Ph. D. degree in chemistry, physics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in machine learning, statistics, physics, and mathematics.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or C++.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work independently.
  • Understanding of structural biology.
