The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience is dedicated to high quality medical student and resident education, excellence in patient care, and advancing the science in psychiatry and behavioral neurosciences through clinical trials and ongoing collaborative research.

The department supports clinical care and career development in multiple disciplines, including general psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, and neuromodulation including electroconvulsive therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation.

The College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience, is looking for a full time Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant candidate to join our team of international leaders committed to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral disorders.

The successful candidate will provide outpatient services in collaboration with a range of professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, other advance practice providers, and social workers.

This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

Essential Functions

  • Working with a designated supervisor, assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients in various areas of behavioral health.
  • Collect comprehensive histories of new patients.
  • Conduct basic physical and psychosocial assessments of individuals and / or families. Work with physicians and other providers in delivery of care.
  • Manage common episodic and chronic illnesses and administer medication and treatments as prescribed; obtain treatment consents as needed.
  • Provide counseling and health training.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in research activities.
  • Order supplies as necessary; stock and maintain rooms as required.
  • Provide direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (e.g., performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Minimum Requirements

For Nurse Practitioner- Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse :

  • A Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Current / valid RN license to practice in the state of Ohio.
  • Three (3) years nursing experience.

For Physician Assistant :

  • Professional Degree.
  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and current / valid license in the state of Ohio prior to start.
  • Must be licensed / license eligible in the State of Ohio.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience is required.

Additional Qualifications Considered

For Nurse Practitioner- Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse :

Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) http : / / www.nursecredentialing.org / Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health as Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PMHCNS-BC) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).

Candidates must be eligible and willing to sit for the examination.

For Physician Assistant :

Job Overview

Assist in performing procedures and provide technical solutions that serve to provide appropriate access to and protect systems from unauthorized users.

Essential Functions

  • Carry out procedures to ensure that all systems, products and services meet organization security standards.
  • Research information security trends to understand the latest vulnerabilities and threats.
  • Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of information systems to identity vulnerabilities, risk and protection needs.
