Assistant Warehouse Supervisor - 1st Shift
UDT is looking for an Assistant Warehouse Supervisor, 1st Shift to help oversee and support the needs of UDT’s Integration Center in Orlando, FL as part of the Life Cycle Management solution.
The incumbent in this role will be accountable for supplementing the efforts of the 1st Shift Warehouse Supervisor in leading shift production departments in collaboration with additional leadership and resources to complete a successful production day.
Focus is on personnel management, accomplishing daily production goals, maintaining production progress on larger projects, shipping, and preparation for the end of the day to continue production the following day, and maintaining consistent and accurate inventory practices.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities :
- Responsible for supplementing efforts for the successful execution of production, inventory, and receiving on 1st shift in accordance with overall business needs and planning, as provided by Senior Leadership and Management.
- Specialization towards supervising receiving and inventory control efforts on 1st Shift in conjunction with department leads.
Execution of a cohesive plan in and in conjunction with overall goals to maintain inventory quality control, manage cycle count schedules, supervise staff to pick / pull / move product for production and shipping, and communicating with accounting staff as necessary.
Supporting 1st Shift Warehouse Supervisor in successfully completing end of year inventory counts, daily cycle counts, audit prep and variance review alongside department leads.
- Accountable for performance of receiving staff and inventory transfer handling and accuracy.
- Responsible for coordinating special projects outside of standard production as per needs of the business. Including but not limited to building security, maintenance, improvements, testing, or cleaning.
- Responsible for maintaining knowledge and understanding of processing requirements and current order statuses to support or if required replace 1st shift Warehouse Supervisor duties when needed.
- Responsible for personnel management needs and maintaining schedules, with the ability to execute towards a known goal.
- Accountable for effective collaboration with senior leadership and other supervisory staff to maintain a cohesive operational environment during transition from 1st shift to 2nd shift, and, when applicable, 3rd shift to 1st shift.
- Enforces and maintains shrink and loss prevention policies and procedures for in-house inventory.
- Contributes to the overall safety program and planning as well as holding accountable staff members for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Supplements supervisory efforts towards for maintaining a working relationship with staffing agency partners on personnel resource management and accountability.
Will be required to organize production staff based on volume needs, interview potential new headcount, and designate the appropriate training of new resources in conjunction with senior leadership.
Minimal Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing or supervising warehouse personnel and teams and / or production environments OR
- A combination of education and experience of equivalent time frame demonstrating similar skillsets applicable for the above listed responsibilities
- Must have knowledge and experience in Standard Warehouse Procedures, Layouts, and Picking and Packing Procedures, Inventory control, and inventory and ERP systems integration.
- Strong Process Orientation and Attention to Detail
- Ability to Read, Analyze and understand work order workflows and instructions on production, packing lists for received products, shipping bill of ladings and / or other goods shipment labeling.
- Must be able to be operate a forklift or be capable of being certified to operate a forklift
- Experience with warehouse management systems, barcode scanners, production printing systems / design.
- Experience managing, supervising, or leading line staff in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft based platforms as well as familiarity with general computing knowledge and system interaction.
Microsoft Excel proficiency and familiarity, as well as messaging and e-mail platforms.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to manage personnel interactions and conflicts in accordance with management of a large and varied resource pool.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, partners, and other UDT employees.
- Ability to lead teams of 5 30 people
- Ability to work 2nd shift hours, weekends, and at times into the later hours of the day as per business needs.
- Must be able to communicate and understand English commands and instructions. Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
Judgment Skills :
- Ability to operate independently with little to know direct instruction, following requirements set forth by systematic data entry or knowledge of the current operation.
- Adherence to all generally accepted safety protocols and procedures in mixed office / warehouse environment.
- Ability to be polite and use diplomacy in difficult situations when working with a widely varied landscape of personnel types daily.
Work Environment and related risks :
Persons in this position must work regularly near moving or mechanical machinery. Persons in this position are regularly exposed to moderate to loud noises (examples : business office with computers and printers, light traffic, materials extractors, forklift chimes, etc), dust / dirt in conjunction with normal warehouse activities, heat or cold and other environmental variables consistent with working in a warehouse environment.
Persons in this position run the risk of electric shock if established safety precautions are not adhered to properly.
