Fitter & Welder
Your responsibilities
thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions is currently seeking a first shift fitter & welder in our
Milwaukee, WI location.
The Fitter / Welder position is responsible for fitting and welding together fabricated
components from flat plate and structural shapes into machinery frames, planetary
coolers, round shells, and miscellaneous other fabrications. Materials include mild and
stainless steel up to 5 inches thick.

Your profile
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Layout, fitting, welding, and cleaning of all components to create finished weldments. This includes reading and interpretation of engineering drawings, tolerances, and welding symbols.
- Flux core and submerged arc welding.
- Performing self-inspection of your work.
- Using overhead and / or jib / pedestal cranes, forklifts, man-lifts, pneumatic tools,
hydraulic tools, hand tools and torches as required.
Perform all duties in a safe manner utilizing all required PPE, being constantly
aware of others in the work area.
Interface effectively with coworkers in a manufacturing environment.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent required
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Experience in a manufacturing welding environment.
- Previous submerged arc welding and flux core welding experience.
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques, tools, and the principles involved in flux
core welding and submerged arc welding.
Ability to read engineering drawings including geometric tolerances.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Previous welding certifications.
- Technical or vocational schooling for blueprint reading, weld symbols, geometric tolerances, inspection, layout and welding.
- Knowledge of non-destructive testing methods

radiation from electric arc welding.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to noise over 80dB.
