Job Summary

Provide general accounting support to all operating Associate Deans and Directors in the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Gleacher Center : Executive Education, Conference Center, Executive Program as well as other department managers, and University staff as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Works with London, Hong Kong, and Singapore campus staff, and the local external accounting services providers to ensure that the University has an effective financial oversight structure and accounts reporting regime in place, as well as provide timely delivery of financial transaction processing.
  • Maintains the chart of accounts used by both the international accounting services providers and the University FAS system.
  • Reviews monthly payroll reports for international campuses for approval from the Senior Director of Finance.
  • Reviews cash disbursement reports from the international accounting services providers for Senior Director of Finance approval.
  • Prepares monthly entries to record the international campus financial activities in the University FAS system.
  • Coordinates and monitors the accounting for tuition revenue and student accounts receivable from the international campus programs, working with Bursar's office and international campus staff to communicate payments and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Coordinates and monitors the accounting for donations received in international campus bank accounts, working with the Advancement offices and international campus staff to communicate payments and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Communicates University paid expenses on behalf of the international campus to the local accounting service provider every month.
  • Monitors and compares the FAS balances for international campuses to reports from the international campus accounting services providers.
  • Provides non-Booth University units that conduct activities and / or have staff at the Hong Kong and London campuses with accounting support, including vendor disbursements, payroll, and related monthly transaction reporting, as an integral part of the overall services provided by the local external accounting services providers.
  • Monitors international currency cash balances in FAS to ensure that they agree with international campus books and monitors unrealized gain / loss from fluctuations in conversion rates.
  • Confirms the annual intercompany balances between the international campuses and the University.
  • Consolidates financial information for the Executive MBA program from all three campuses and report as needed.
  • Updates and distributes annual budget templates consolidating the international and domestic executive MBA programs, providing budgeting support to the Chicago EMBA program staff.

Maintains consolidating worksheet with budget and forecast revisions and updates when fiscal year-end results are complete.

  • During the budget cycle, reviews, organizes and consolidates revisions as they are submitted.
  • Once the budget cycle is completed, prepares worksheets to enter budgets into FAS, communicates the final budget to international campus managers, and consolidates budget information for inclusion in the Gleacher Center summary.
  • Ensures that, as a part of the annual fiscal closing of the University’s accounting system, all transactions relevant to transfers, etc., have been processed.
  • Develops procedures and tools to assist departmental personnel with compliance with University accounting requirements.
  • Develops and maintains productive working relations with the Chicago Booth’s Accounting and the University Financial Services offices.
  • Handles special projects as assigned. Assists the Senior Director of Finance / Gleacher Center in developing and generating periodic revenue progress reports, including non-dollar metrics.
  • Uses in-depth knowledge and experience to perform a variety of complex operating or cost accounting activities, incorporating accounting theories and principles.
  • Guides others and acts as a resource on systems of recording costs or other financial and budgetary data.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education :

About the Department

The Biological Sciences Division (BSD) is the largest unit of the University. Established in 1930, the BSD is comprised of faculty from the clinical and basic sciences.

In this unique academic community, a unified division delivers undergraduate, graduate, medical, and postgraduate education in the biological sciences together with outstanding patient care and world-renowned research.

The BSD currently includes approximately 135 faculty in the 10 basic science departments, over 800 faculty in 13 clinical departments, and 2400 staff members.

The BSD includes the Pritzker School of Medicine (PSOM), approximately 24 academic units, degree-granting committees, and research centers and institutes.

The BSD is located on the University's main campus in Hyde Park, 20 minutes south of downtown Chicago. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has 98 clinical providers : 42 faculty members, ten clinical fellows, 28 residents, ten physician assistants, six midwives, and two advanced practice nurses providing care at the main hospital in Hyde Park and seven off site locations.

We have more than 45,000 outpatient visits, 20,000 ultrasound encounters, 2,500 deliveries, and perform over 2,500 gynecologic surgeries per year.

Our physicians see patients at several offsite locations that are managed by the Department and operate at a number of hospitals, including Munster Community hospital in Northwestern Indiana and Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is organized into seven clinical sections : Uro-gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, REI, Family Planning, Maternal Fetal Medicine, General Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Job Summary

Incumbent will be responsible for supporting data requests for the Clinical Research Data Warehouse (CRDW), as well as for ETL Architecture and Development.

Incumbent will spend 80% of his / her / their time supporting clinician-scientists in the Department of Cardiology. This includes understanding and implementing data extractions, transformations, and loads, writing SQL code to incorporate new data sources into data warehouses and affiliated data marts, both local and distributed, and working with existing teams to further development according to existing standards and conventions.

There is also a need for data management and biostatistical expertise. This includes data source acquisition and positioning, providing ongoing feedback and support to expand available data sources while improving the team’s understanding of existing data sources, transforming and loading data into data models and platforms, both standardized and unstandardized, and creating and maintaining a growing body of documentation.

Incumbent will perform data analysis using coding languages to answer research questions under several University faculty members' direction and support quality improvement initiatives and external reporting.

Finally, this position involves translating technical specifications into SQL code, generating data deliverables, and conducting code reviews.

An ideal candidate will be able to quickly master medical terminology related to filling data requests, communicate effectively with a business analyst and clients, write SQL queries that optimize the organization of data deliverables, perform analyses using R and Python, and generate visualizations using Tableau.

Prior to delivery of data, the incumbent will assist with data quality checks, making sure that each deliverable matches the original request specifications and that the data is of the highest quality.

Job Summary :

The Communications Center Dispatcher receives all emergency and non-emergency incoming calls to the Emergency Communications Center (ECC), and solicits descriptive information to determine the nature and urgency of the request, location, and scope of the incident.

Responsibilities :

  • Obtains and records all information regarding type of incident, exact location, and other pertinent information including potential threats, risks or hazards that responding units may encounter.
  • Dispatches appropriate police or public safety units to incidents based on priority and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintains radio contact with all field units. Informs field units of potential threats, risks, and hazards such as involvement of weapons, hazardous materials, or violent subjects.
  • Monitors the Chicago Police Zone radio. Maintains accurate records of requests for service and other departmental activities.

Informs supervisor of emergency incidents or situations.

Performs general support duties related to dispatch activities including data entry. Monitors Law Enforcement Agency Data System (LEADS).

Answers emergency and public safety telephone lines.

Our mental health services include, but are not limited to, diagnostic assessments; crisis assessment and intervention; individual, couples, and / or group therapy;

To support the health and wellbeing needs of our diverse student body, we offer support spaces, including support spaces for students of color, international students, and LGBTQ+ students, and wellness programming, including workshops on imposter issues, adjusting to college, managing stress, and diversity in the classroom.
