Medical Director
Provide complete medical oversight and psychiatric services for the Great Lakes Harbor Light System Provide medical direction over all Harbor Light programming, which includes Detoxification, Residential Treatment, Safe Harbor, and Medical Respite.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities : Acquire and maintain appropriate licenses required by the State of Michigan to provide psychiatric and medical services and to practice medication-assisted treatment, embracing best practices, at all Harbor Light System locations.
Establish a weekly schedule with Harbor Light administration and maintain a weekly presence at each Harbor Light site to ensure coordination of integrative care and leadership.
Acquires, maintains, and applies knowledge of social, regulatory, political, and economic factors that relate to client care services Review current medications and prescribe additional medication as needed for clients while in treatment within Harbor Light policies.
Provide medication reviews for Harbor Light System clients Provide psychiatric evaluations to all clients of the Great Lakes Harbor Light System Responsible for the overall supervision of all medical staff in conjunction with leadership from location specific Team Leads.
Review and address as necessary, medication errors filed by medical staff. Oversee medication assisted treatment protocol.
Peer review of medication ordering for all Harbor Light System locations. Coordinate and provide quarterly medical trainings incorporating best practices and priorities identified by quality assurance team to ensure administration and delivery of high quality, medically appropriate care including care by subcontracted providers.
Meet no less than quarterly with each Site Administrator to communicate efforts, discuss priorities and address opportunities for improvements.
Review, make necessary changes and sign all medical policies and procedures annually. Collaborate with quality assurance committee to evaluate, update, amend and replace medical policies, procedures and protocols.
Work with quality assurance team in developing and implementing vision and evaluation for all medical services. Provide an on-call physician (or designee) 24 hours a day.
Qualifications : Possess good oral and written communication skills Authorization to work in the United States TB test and police clearance required Education / Experience : Minimum of 5 years experience working with mental health populations Computer Skills : Possess an excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications Experience in electronic medical records systems Reasoning Ability : Understand and work within The Salvation Army and Harbor Light Mission Statements Possess an excellent working knowledge of The Harbor Light Policies and Procedures Certificates and Licenses : Must possess a valid Psychiatrist license through the State of Michigan Must possess a Controlled Substance license through the State of Michigan Physical Demands : Ability to lift 25 pounds Frequent standing, sitting, and walking for long periods of time.
Capability to visually inspect packages, equipment, and fixtures, as well as observe people and events The ability to hear and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Capability to use standard office machines like copiers and fax machines. Work Environment : Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and biohazardous materials In addition : Must be highly organized, motivated, a self starter with the ability to multi-task, be creative.
