Position Summary :

The New York County District Attorney’s Office - Witness Aid Services Unit (WASU) has an opening for a Bi-Lingual Counselor its Witness Aid Services Unit (WASU).

In this position the Counselor is responsible for providing counseling and therapeutic services to assist crime victims, witnesses, and their families.

Services will be provided in different office locations such as, the Main Office downtown, the Harlem Office and / or the Washington Heights Office.

Spanish bilingual required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Conduct counseling / therapy sessions in either individual and / or group setting as well as mental health evaluation and concrete needs assessments.
  • Conduct crisis intervention interviews and assist with safety planning.
  • Provide victim support and court accompaniment throughout the criminal justice process. Act as a liaison between victims, families, and Assistant District Attorneys and provide case status information.
  • Follow up contact with victims to monitor their connection to services.
  • Ability to interact effectively with victims, witnesses, families, law enforcement officers and criminal justice personnel.
  • Assist with a range of direct services such as crime victim compensation applications, emergency shelter placements; partner with DANY Advocates for additional concrete services.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies to assist crime victims and facilitate referrals to appropriate agencies.
  • Maintain accurate up to date case files as well as maintain statistics.
  • Will rotate and sit different office locations including the Downtown Office, Harlem Office and Washington Heights when assigned.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • New York State LMSW / LCSW or LMHC
  • Experience working with domestic violence, sexual assault preferred.
  • Familiarity with the crime victims and / or criminal justice system preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity to victim issues a must.
  • Ability to handle high caseload and set priorities.
  • Excellent engagement, crisis intervention, and assessment skills required.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible hours including holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Educational / Licensure Requirements :

  • Master’s degree in Social Work and New York State License required.
  • Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and New York State License required.

Preferred Requirements

  • Spanish bilingual required.
  • ASL proficiency a plus.
  • SIFI certified / eligible a plus.
  • One (1) year commitment to the hiring bureau.
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible hours including holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Position Title : IT Help Desk Specialist

Position Summary :

The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an opening for an IT Help Desk Specialist in its IT Department.

In this position the Specialist is responsible for providing prompt and efficient technical support with varying degrees of complexity for all levels of DANY staff.

Please note : this position requires a compressed work week schedule consisting of 3 weekdays and 1 weekend day (Wednesday to Saturday) from 1 : pm to : pm.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Perform high-level triage of computer and applications related problems to assign to proper unit or specialist.
  • Act as resource to technicians and first line support telephone operators.
  • Assist users with preliminary identification of computer and application related issues.
  • Manage high volume IT Help Desk call center, with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Escalate issues as required and ensure a timely distribution of information within the organization to expedite resolutions.
  • Follow the client support guidelines as outlined by supervisor.
  • Maintain support documentation as needed.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.
  • Accurately maintains Unit's call center tracking system ensuring that calls are entered accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Troubleshoot both PC and Mac hardware and software.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years relevant experience in supporting users.
  • Strong technical background in computer hardware and software, and troubleshooting required.
  • Knowledge of both PC and Mac hardware and software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (including Windows , and Office 5), with the ability to quickly learn and incorporate new releases and updates.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Ability to assist users with application related questions and issues.
  • Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize among competing needs, and respond quickly to requests for information.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and vendors.

Educational Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree strongly preferred with relevant years of experience and / or training.
  • HS diploma or equivalent required and additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of Bachelor's or Associate's degree.

Preferred Requirements :

  • Additional technical training a plus.
  • Knowledge of iManage preferred.

Commitment :

One (1) year commitment to hiring department.
