WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Seasonal Grassland Steward position is a full-time position. A minimum of 20 weeks of availability is required. On-site housing is available at our Texas City Preserve.
- The employee will be expected to 1) become familiar with local prairie grassland restoration practices and native plant materials along the upper Texas coast and other parts of the state;
- 2) learn local invasive plant species and techniques for controlling them; 3) learn and implement a variety of practices for site restoration of native grassland plant communities, including safely applying appropriate herbicides, native seed planting, and establishment monitoring;
- 4) learn and operate various equipment and machinery appropriate for restoration practices and native seed production; 5) work with TNC staff, partner organizations, and volunteers to accomplish restoration and stewardship objectives;
6) help clean and maintain preserve facilities. The employee may be expected to travel to various locations in the greater Houston area, sometimes overnight, and may have opportunities to travel to preserves and conservation lands along the Texas coast.
May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.
Requires considerable physical exertion and / or muscular strain.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- High school diploma or GED and 1 year’s training in science-related field or related experience in land management.
- Experience recognizing plant and animal species.
- Experience operating various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner (e.g. Lawn mower, chainsaw, UTV, ATV or OHV, two-way radio, or similar equipment).
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications as required. (e.g. First Aid, CPR, herbicide or pesticide application).

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Executive Assistant will provide direct administrative support to the Washington State Director and general administrative and project management support for the Washington Executive Team and Board of Trustees.
The Executive Assistant is responsible for performing multiple administrative functions including scheduling, call and meeting coordination, calendar and project management, processing expenses and time reporting, travel arrangements, tracking tasks with competing priorities and deadlines, drafting correspondence, and handling sensitive information.
They will communicate on behalf of the State Director with various internal and external parties, including staff in various programs across the Conservancy, donors, trustees and community members in order to coordinate arrangements, convey information and ensure successful execution of support functions.
They will coordinate meeting logistics and support event planning and implementation of trustee and other events. The Executive Assistant is a member of the All Staff Programming team and supports all staff meetings and retreats, as well as providing back-up reception coverage.
The Executive Assistant will coordinate, participate, and contribute to various project teams within this role. They will work closely with and at times under the direction of the Executive Coordinator and Trustee Liaison to support the Board of Trustees and various Board Committees.
Work Environment & Schedule
- This is a hybrid position based in Seattle, WA with the expectation of 2-3 days per week onsite at The Nature Conservancy’s Seattle office.
- The work schedule is typically a standard Monday Friday, with some long and / or flexible hours as needed. Flexible work arrangements are available.
- The position requires periodic travel throughout Washington State (including overnight) and the ability to support meetings and events at various sites throughout the state.
- Onsite work is performed in a professional open-office environment and involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and / or strain.
Meeting logistics require physical mobility and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

The Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) will provide overall direction and strategic leadership for fiscal operations functions within the Idaho Business Unit with 32 plus staff and an operating budget of $6 million.
The DFO will be responsible for Finance, Human Resources and general administrative leadership. The position is a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) for Idaho.
The DFO will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the program by developing and coordinating financial and operative plans and overseeing day-to-day tasks.
The DFO is responsible for development and implementation of annual budgets, forecasts, project management reporting and year end closing processes.
They will also direct / manage administrative tasks related to Human Resources including recruitment, compensation and equity analysis, onboarding, performance evaluation processes and provide a variety of ad hoc staff support.
The DFO will be responsible for board and ELT engagement in the financial management and financial sustainability of the Program, including the presentation of financial information at board meetings.
They will work directly with the fundraising team and partner with the Director of Development on preparing budget proposals, ensuring donor solicitations are aligned with chapter budgetary needs and managing funds towards donor intent.
The DFO will work with conservation programs to ensure consistent budgeting and develop projections for multiyear fundraising revenue needs inclusive of operational and capital projects.
The DFO will work in close cooperation with any or all the following : Conservancy staff (local and global), donors, trustees, vendors, public agencies, financial institutions, and legal and accounting professionals.
They will adhere to and advise on the organization's policies and procedures. They will provide advice, recommendations, and broad training related to operations and finance.
The DFO will maintain expert knowledge of the systems and resources utilized by the team and apply knowledge to managing support and planning communications related to the resources.
They will manage documentation, initiate complex processes, and serve as key team member for the enhancement of systems and tools.
They will lead diverse activities, analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, project outcomes, and implement solutions to improve effectiveness.
