Sous Chef
The James is an edgy Irish gastropub in Needham Center. Since our opening in February 2018, we have blossomed into a bustling bar known for upscale comfort food.
Our menu is a celebration of modern Gaelic cuisine. We pride ourselves on utilizing fresh and local ingredients when seasonally available.
We are a cozy pub steeped in the tradition of friendly and knowledgeable service.
Sous Chef candidates should have a minimum of 2 years experience as a lead cook or Sous chef. This is a teaching kitchen : a strong passion for food and cooking as well as a willingness to learn is a must.
A vital role on the team, the Sous Cook will require strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
Must assist in the general management of the kitchen including but not limited to :
- Menu development, creative input and application.
- Helping in monitoring consistency with food preparation, execution and presentation.
- Purchase of goods, coordinating with executive chef.
- Stock organization, rotation and utilization.
- Cleaning & organization of kitchen and storage areas
- Overseeing inventory controls.
We are looking for someone with a great team mentality. Assistance in staff training and mentoring is key.
Salary negotiable depending on experience and performance.
