Room Service Call Center Operator

Job Description

Responsible for performing job functions relative to Room Service call center operations and patient meal service. Responsible for processing of Room Service meal requests, including compliance of meal with prescribed diet order and / or food allergies, preparing enteral feedings for distribution and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Obtains meal orders from patients and visitors via telephone and enters into the Health Touch diet office management system for processing.

Verifies patient’s meal order meets diet order parameters and offers compatible suggestions to make the order compliant.

Documents required information efficiently and consistently. Answer calls using the appropriate greeting, stating name and using a courteous tone of voice.

Reads back meal order prior to completion of the call. Provides excellent customer service and resolves minor meal concerns.

Escalates unresolved patient concerns to a FANS manager.

Obtains meal orders at patient bedside for patients assigned Appropriate with Assist’ Room Service status. Enters into the Health Touch using tablet computer for processing.

Verifies patient’s meal order meets diet order parameters and offers compatible suggestions to make the order compliant.

Documents required information efficiently and consistently. Follows script for entering patient room, uses appropriate greeting and follows proper hand hygiene protocol.

Reads back meal order prior to leaving patient room. Provides excellent customer service.

Completes patient call backs as assigned for any patient with an active diet order that has missed a meal. Provides notification to a Clinical Dietitian for any patient refusing two consecutive meals.

Enters Behavioral Health paper menus into Health Touch according to tray standards for zone printing and preparation. Ensures 6W patients with an active diet order have a meal entered prior to production report print time.

Prepares enteral feedings according to printed tube feeding labels for delivery to nursing units.

Patient advocate visits new admissions to instruct patients on meal ordering system. Assist patients and family members in placing meal order.

Follows patient advocate script and provides excellent customer service.

Delivers Room Service meal trays to patients and / or guests when assistance is needed. Provides timely notification to nursing unit of prepared trays for insulin patients prior to delivering tray to the patient.

Follows tray delivery script for entering patient room and follows proper hand hygiene protocol. Verifies 2 patient identifiers prior to delivering meal tray.

Assists with meal set-up as needed, including moving bedside table within reach. Collects cash payment for guest tray and returns promptly, if change is needed.

Confirms accuracy of meal order and provides patient with excellent customer service. Reports any patient complaints / concerns to a FANS Manager.

Attends meetings as required to enhance knowledge, job skills and communication within the department. Follows acceptable practices related to : safety, sanitation, infection control, quality control, and customer relations.

Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or needed. May assist in other areas as relief.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :

Job Description

The main function of this position is to provide a reasonably safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, volunteers, staff and employees.

To assist and support the Safety / Security / Emergency Management and Parking management programs.

Responsibilities

Patrol hospital property and / or facilities in an effort to ensure a safe and secure environment, performing duties outlined in department post orders and policies.

In performance of their duties, officers are to cooperate with co-workers and other employees, be respectful and conduct themselves in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner.

Treat all patients, visitors, and employees in a fair professional manner.

  • Conduct inspections and documental potential and real security, health and safety hazards. Upon discovery, officers shall conduct initial investigation if needed and submit a safety reminder and / or Plant Operations request.
  • Enforce hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, including appearing in court, if necessary.
  • Investigate and document all reports of criminal or unusual activity, crisis incidents and policy violations, following up when necessary.

Complete appropriate incident report, as outlined in department policy. Reports must be complete, clear, concise, accurate, and professional.

Respond to all alarms and take action to normalize.

1. Discover source and / or cause of alarm.

2. Respond to panic alarms in a timely fashion.

3. Extinguish fire or contain incidents as necessary.

4. Control traffic in emergencies to maintain access for emergency vehicles.

5. Allow patient care to continue with the least interruptions.

6. After all clear return alarm system to normal operation.

  • Direct and control traffic / parking on property and in garages to ensure safe and expedient traffic flow. Enforce parking rules / regulations, issue citations, boot or tow violators as required by hospital policy
  • Officers are required to operate and monitor all systems (Fire, Security / Access, Infant Security, etc.) in a proficient, competent manner.
  • Officers are required to conduct assigned inspections of safety / security and fire system components, including monthly inspections of security systems and fire extinguishers.
  • Officers are required to escort personnel to and from the cashier’s office and other locations for the purpose of ensuring their personal safety.

Officers are expected to escort visitors and employees to and from their vehicles upon request.

Additional duties : Officers are required to perform all other duties assigned by department management. These duties include, but are not limited to : relieving base dispatcher, locking / unlocking doors and gates, handling lost and found property, handling radioactive package deliveries, motorist assists, medical assists (patient restraints), package / mail delivery, morgue releases, helicopter landing safety, and informational hospital ambassador

Job Description

To provide services to The Christ Hospital Patients and families by assessing psycho-social needs and implementing a plan of care to assure continuity of the patient’s care.

Work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health. Help patients with a variety of mental health issues as well as substance abuse problems.

Develop and implement treatment plans and collaborate with the primary care providers and mental health providers to review plans.

Provides psychosocial interventions, advocacy and linkage with community resources.

Responsibilities

PLAN DEVELOPMENT / IMPLEMENTATION

Develop a plan of intervention, which is integrated with the interdisciplinary treatment team to establish continuum of care in congruence with ethical and legal considerations.

Implements plan of care :

  • Provide psycho-social counseling and other therapeutic interventions for patient / family.
  • Provides education and crisis management for patient and family.
  • Facilitate healthcare decision making.
  • Provide psychosocial intervention for; neglect / abuse, adjustment to illness, bereavement, non-compliance and other psychosocial barriers to diagnosis and treatment and compliance.
  • Provide referral and linkage to health care and community resources.
  • Advocate, mediate and negotiate a cohesive plan for maintaining or improving social supports and patient safety.
  • Develop, monitor, evaluate effectiveness of, and modify care plan as needed.
  • Assist with the development of behavioral health brief intervention model in the primary care setting
  • Use technology to facilitate scheduled and on demand consultations with providers and patients.

DOCUMENTATION

  • Provide clear, concise, objective written communication about the psychosocial assessment, treatment plan, progress of intervention and outcomes in compliance with regulatory and department standards.
  • Document interventions in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the development of reporting metrics to monitor effectiveness of interventions

ASSESSMENT / SCREENING

Assess the psycho-social needs of patients to :

  • Identify psycho-social barriers to treatment.
  • Identify psychosocial impacts of illness / hospitalization on the patient and family.
  • Identify chemical dependency and / or mental illness.
  • Identify patient / family / community support systems.
  • Identify age related / developmental issues.
  • Identify patient / family environmental risk factors (abuse, homelessness, domestic violence, etc.)

CONSULTATION / EDUCATION / COLLABORATION

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to enhance quality of care and efficiency.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with healthcare team and community agencies and services.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds, care conferences and family conferences.
  • Assist interdisciplinary team in understanding significant social and emotional factors related to illness.
  • Identify barriers in service delivery systems and advocate for change.
  • Provide education to interdisciplinary team members
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and participate in process improvement.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO

  • Assist in departmental planning, serve on committees and task forces and assume responsibility for delegated projects.
  • Provide mandatory and / or voluntary cross coverage when needed.
  • Participate in orientation of new staff.
  • Generate and support ideas to improve service delivery.
  • Identify complex clinical cases and seeks supervision when appropriate
  • Provide supervision to LSWs

EDUCATION : Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) or psychology / counseling required;

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE : Behavioral health experience and at least 2 years of counseling experience in a community mental health setting or privately.

Substance abuse counseling experience preferred. Must be able to select appropriate counseling methods in order to maximize treatment process and outcomes.
