Overview
Plans, organizes, and directs creative arts therapy programs and individualized therapeutic services for young adult residents with the objective of improving their physical, mental, and socio-emotional well-being.
Provides therapeutic and educational services to families of residents to support goals of bonding, emotional coping, and understanding of needs.
Responsible for all required documentation, including MDS and CCP.
Responsibilities
- Provides Creative Arts Therapy sessions (1 : 1 and groups) to patients and supportive / psychotherapeutic services to patient families.
- Maintains an age-appropriate curriculum of dynamic and engaging daily therapeutic activities (adaptive art, sensory stimulation, games), outings or community inclusion (libraries, museums, cultural events, etc.
and therapeutic groups that provide opportunities for psychosocial enrichment and overall developmental enhancement.
- Evaluate the history, interests, aptitudes, and skills of patients by interviews, assessments, inventories, tests, and measurements in order to provide holistic and individualized treatment.
- Keeps accurate daily records of therapies and completes progress notes to document the types of activities in which the patient participates, patterns of attendance, interpersonal behavior, response to modalities, and progress towards therapeutic goals.
- Works closely with the interdisciplinary team to foster a therapeutic environment and participating in clients’ treatment plans, weekly case conferences, and staff meetings.
- Advocates for families and residents adopting a family-centered-care model.
- Reports all unsafe conditions and maintains supplies and equipment.
- Supervise student interns and oversees trained volunteers.
- IF LCAT, provides supervision to staff with limited permits until their hours are completed.
- Participates in the orientation process for new departmental hires.
- Provides inservices and education to staff, families, and residents.
- Coordinates with Marketing Department on promotional opportunities (pictures, videos, brochures)
- Maintain clinical notes in medical records in a timely fashion, keep daily statistics, prepare / maintain monthly calendar of activities / events.
- Adheres to all RNH policies and procedures relevant to performing job duties, including infection control.
- Fosters therapeutic atmosphere, including decorating units and therapeutic support spaces.
- Provide complementary therapies as trained and when appropriate (Reiki, massage, Acutonics, etc..)
- Facilitates family virtual visits and supervises in-person visitation when needed.
- Provides coverage for educational programming.
- All other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Education :
- Master’s Degree in Music Therapy, required.
Experience :
Minimum two (2) years of recent experience at a working with children or adolescents in a hospital or education setting.
Must be able to produce required medical / clinical documentation, including MDS and CCP, preferred.
Training in working with special needs and young adult populations, preferred.
Knowledge and Skills :
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and / or co-workers.
- Must be trained in and knowledgeable of all Kingsbrook / Rutland policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work.
- Other : Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding.
License, Certifications :
Must be board certified and a Licensed Creative Art Therapist.
Physical Requirements :
- Position requires prolonged periods of sitting,standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
- May be required to handle reasonably heavy weights across distances.

Recruiter
Overview
The Recruiter is responsible for all aspects of the recruitment, interviewing, selection and pre-employment processing of all new employees, as well as all internal transfers.
Ensures all candidates for employment meet the minimum qualifications needed for the continuation of a qualified and skilled workforce.
Responsibilities
- Source candidates
- Supervise pre-employment testing procedures for new applicants, and assists in determining which tests to administer.
- Interview the applicants as needed, and inform them of job duties and specifications, benefits overview and pertinent Hospital polices.
Evaluate work experience and education against requirements for the job vacancy.
- Refer qualified applicants to departments for interview and final approval. Ensure references are checked, pre-employment physical and Background checks are completed prior to applicant’s employment.
- Follow up with Dept. Heads regarding new hire start dates and orientation schedules.
- Verify licenses and certifications required by NYS Regulatory Agencies. Ensures that all Nursing Home regulations are followed relating to new hires.

- Generate monthly reports i.e. JSF, JCR and Nursing Home compliance reports and other reports deemed necessary for efficient employment activity.
- Establish and maintain relationships with schools and agencies as outreach activities for recruitment. Utilizes the internet and other websites (including BHMC), as a form of recruitment.
- Oversee the posting of vacancies and follows up on internal transfers and union referrals. Follows the protocol mandated by NYS Regulatory Agency.

Qualifications
Education :
BA / BS Degree in Human Resources, Business, and / or Hospital Administration preferred.
Experience :
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible related experience in recruitment.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills :
- Must possess good written and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Security officer
Overview
Responsible for protecting Hospital and Nursing Home property, patients, residents and employees. Enforces Hospital and Nursing Home policies, rules and regulations.
Patrols all Hospital and Nursing Home buildings, grounds, and parking lots if so assigned. Enforces policies and regulations regarding visiting hours.
Responsibilities
- Inspects packages leaving Hospital and collects package passes. Does not permit Hospital or Nursing Home property to leave the premises without proper authorization.
- Carries portable radio, respond to all requests for assistance, responds to certain Codes 99, i.e., cardiac arrest Dr Strong etc.
Takes part in actual disasters and disaster drills.
- Escorts employees to and from Hospital and Nursing Home building, residences, and parking lots upon request.
- Reports complaints of patients, visitors, and employees concerning unauthorized activity (ie. property damage, physical violence, theft, etc.
to Supervisor. Describes such incidences in writing on a Security Incident Report and submits to Manager for input into tracking and reporting system (RL6).
- Observes time clock area and employees' entrances, if so assigned.
- When posted at an entrance, inquires the destination of persons entering Hospital, and directs them.
- Observes and reports any safety hazard or any violation of fire safety rules.
- Assists in escorting non-ambulatory patients to and from entrance, waiting room, admitting office, or emergency room.
- Operates elevator when assigned.
- May operate Hospital-owned or leased vehicles for transporting employees, making deliveries and pickups. Also uses vehicles to make bank deposits.
- Locks and unlocks office doors when requested by Security Supervisor.
- Activates and deactivates alarms in various Hospital and Nursing Home buildings.
- Becomes an active member of the Hospital Fire Brigade. Responds to alarms of fire and fire prevention.
- Safeguards, transports and assists with restraining and administering medication to psychiatric patients under clinical request and supervision.
- Performs other related duties assigned by the supervisor. In an emergency, performs other duties necessary for the welfare of patients, residents, staff, or the efficient operations of the hospital and Nursing Home.
Qualifications

Experience :
Minimum three (3) years of experience as a security guard.
Licenses and Certifications :
- Current NY State Security Guard (Unarmed) License required.

- Facilitates family virtual visits and supervises in-person visitation when needed.
- Provides coverage for educational programming.

Qualifications
Education :
- Master’s Degree in Music Therapy, required.
- Must have or be eligible for certification for respective discipline and a NYS Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) or LCAT limited permit.
Experience :
Minimum two (2) years of recent experience at a working with children or adolescents in a hospital or education setting.
Must be able to produce required medical / clinical documentation, including MDS and CCP, preferred.
Training in working with special needs and young adult populations, preferred.
Knowledge and Skills :
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and / or co-workers.
- Must be trained in and knowledgeable of all Kingsbrook / Rutland policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work.
- Other : Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding.
License, Certifications :
Must be board certified and a Licensed Creative Art Therapist.
Physical Requirements :
- Position requires prolonged periods of sitting,standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
- May be required to handle reasonably heavy weights across distances.
- May be required to handle / assist in lifting patients onto / out of exam beds / procedure stations.

DIRECTOR, ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
Overview
Directs the management of Environmental Services within the Medical Center to maintain the highest possible standards.
Responsibilities
- Direct Environmental Services and; analyze needs and plan schedules and programs ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, supplies and equipment for subsequent performance of duties to maintain appropriate quality standards.
- Recommend and implement solutions for operational problems inwork schedules, non-routine service
- Recommend and implement policies and procedures for the Medical Center's Environmental Service operations; plan and conduct meetings with subordinates to ensure compliance with established practices, to implement new policies and to keep employees abreast of current standards and procedures.
- Develop and implement an on-going Environmental inspection program; ensure Environmental Service standards are maintained;
take corrective action as appropriate.
- Evaluate and make recommendations concerning cleaning products and equipment under study.
- Prepare periodic reports and analysis setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
- Manage various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules
- Plan and organize training programs for all segments of Environmental Services; ensure employees are properly trained in skills necessary to perform assigned tasks.
- Determine fiscal requirements; prepare budgetary recommendations, and monitor and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.
- Maintain close contact with appropriate personnel in the leadership of the labor union that represents Environmental Services;
resolve issues relating to union contract.
- Establish and maintain communication with representatives from the various departments to ensure Environmental Services are being performed to meet departmental needs.
- Knowledge of Local, State, Federal regulatory agency requirements including JCAHO.
- Assist in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of Environmental Services employees.
- Monitor al areas for physical condition to ensure that appropriate environment is maintained for patients and visitors.
- Maintain inventory of supplies,equipment and furniture and monitor mechanical and physical condition;make recommendations for replacements, alterations and / or repairs as appropriate.
- Responsible for the clean and saniary conditions of the Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Rutland Nursing Home and all off site clinics including the Pierre Toussaint Family Health Center.
- All other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Education :
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Expreience :
Minimum of 5 years experience as a Director or Assistant Director of EVS in a health care related facility
Knowledge and Skills :
- Ability to work in surroundings with degree of dust, noise, etc. without undue discomfort.
- Ability to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend and stretch
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents
- Ability to sit for long periods of time at desk to perform job functions
