Job Description
General Responsibilities :
Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, groundwater, building materials, and noise. Operates field monitoring equipment.
Assists with operation and maintenance of remediation systems. May assist with asbestos surveys, abatement projects and Phase I preliminary site assessments.
Transport material samples or documents to the lab for further testing and analysis. Tabulate and prepare data for written reports.
Cleans and maintains field monitoring equipment. Adhere to strict safety standards.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities :
- Performs basic tests as directed using well-defined procedures
- Assists in basic survey / measurement data
- Assists in operating and maintaining remediation systems
- Assists in construction of groundwater monitoring wells
- Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.
- Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification :
- Certification in field of expertise.
- Other national, regional, state, and local environmental related certifications requiring experience and written examination will also be considered if deemed appropriate by the Terracon Department Manager.
Project Manager
Job Description
General Responsibilities :
Manage all aspects of a facilities, materials, environmental, or geotechnical engineering project to ensure that it is safely completed on time and within scope and budget.
Responsible for completing the project as per its contracted scope; monitor progress and performance against the project plan.
Troubleshoot and recommend or resolve operational problems and minimize delays. May be responsible for resource management, project scheduling, budgets and forecasts, and working with external vendors, subcontractors or contractors.
Conducts meetings and prepares reports to communicate the status of the project to project team and client. Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
May have responsibilities to communicate with the client and deliver work products to satisfaction of client. Coordinates effort with APR to make sure that APR has opportunity to engage throughout the project, particularly at critical junctures.
Is involved with approving invoices, preparing change orders, and collections.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities :

- Works with client or NAM to define project scope, schedule and budget.
- Design, communicate, and implement a project plan for completing the project.
- Leads safety efforts including preparation and compliance with approved safety plan.
- Take action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
- Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the project. This may include preparing calculations, designs, reports and work specifications;
developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
- Partner with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources for the project.
- Conduct meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project.
- Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinates project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
- Coordinates with APR to ensure appropriate oversight is in place and sufficient time allowed for reviews of all critical junctures.
- Coordinates with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing and collections
- Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company.
Be familiar with company risk policies.
Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment;
demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices. Engage APRs on projects at their onset.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practices by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience.
Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years’ related experience.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification :
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG) or similar professional registration / certification relevant to the type of services and projects being managed
Project Environmental Engineer
Job Description
General Responsibilities :
Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of environmental projects and clients. This may include performing and / or leading environmental site investigations, engineering analysis, calculations and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided.
Identify, evaluate and recommend risk and remediation strategies / designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
Prepare applicable permit applications, risk assessments and technical documents including proposals, reports and regulatory agency correspondence.
Design systems and environmental protection plans. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
Services may include Phase I / II environmental site assessments, ecological and natural resource field surveys, tank closure assessments, asbestos abatement, storm water management, and site planning and permitting.

- May devise new approaches to problems encountered.
- May serve as a team leader in medium projects and mentor junior level scientists / engineers.
- Performs complex scientific analyses on projects of own discipline.
- May attend on and off-site client meetings.
- Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and / or document site activities.
- Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.
- Evaluates complex laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.
- Works under the supervision of an Authorized Project Reviewer.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or related degree.
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience.
- Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
