The Healthcare Connection offers quality healthcare to all ages, all cultures, all incomes, all health concerns. Duties include assisting Physicians and Nurse Practitioners as needed, checking in the patient, recording pertinent information into electronic health records, conducting requested screening / tests, responding to telephone inquiries, maintaining equipment and supplies in exam rooms and office, and coordinating referrals for patients.

As a Medical Assistant , you will work closely with the practitioners and other staff with patient treatment, ensuring the patient has a positive experience.

You must be willing to provide care to both adult and pediatric patients. The Bilingual Medical Assistant role requires fluency in Spanish and a unique balance of compassion, knowledge and customer service.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Assisting providers with direct patient care including : interviewing the patient and documenting vitals and medical concerns and conditions
  • Conducting requested screening / tests
  • Drawing blood and administering shots to patients
  • Responding to telephone inquiries
  • Maintaining equipment and supplies in exam rooms and office
  • Completing encounter forms and code as necessary
  • Conducting referrals for patients
  • Performing other duties necessary to provide excellent patient care to the patients and to support our providers

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

  • Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program
  • Active CPR certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Prefer at least one year of experience in community health nursing setting or private physician practice.
  • Preferred experience working with electronic health records, or proven computer skills a must
  • Excellent communication and customer service
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and relate to persons from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Experience working with persons of diverse educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds is a plus.

The HealthCare Connection is currently seeking a Board-certified Family Practice Physician to provide direct medical care to our patients.

The position will be responsible for providing primary care to adults and a limited number of pediatric patients at our new facility at Mt.

Healthy Family Practice.

Organization and Staff Overview : The HealthCare Connection has been operational since 1967 and has strong community and political support.

It is a non-profit organization with seven practice locations and is committed to providing quality, culturally sensitive and accessible primary care services to the surrounding area population focusing on the medically underserved, unserved, and uninsured.

On-site services include : family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, obstetrics and gynecology, nurse midwifery, family planning, preventive dental, diagnostic laboratory, HIV testing, immunizations, hearing and vision screening, health education, translation and Medicaid eligibility assistance.

Practice Schedule : Full-time position. The facility is currently open from 8am-4 : 30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays from 8 : 00am to 6 : 30pm, Fridays 8 to 2pm.

No weekend hours at this time except for our Annual Back to School Physical Day on the 2nd Saturday in August. Call coverage : 5-7 providers share adult calls and 5-7 share pediatric calls monthly for only THCC patients.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Medical Degree and Board Certification
  • 3 years of residency training, prefer one to three years’ experience in an ambulatory care or other like facility with demonstrated clinical skills
  • Ability to work as a team across the entire organization
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and relate to persons from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.
