Title of Position :
This is an entry-level administrative position working in a fast paced, high volume outpatient clinical setting. MA’s are responsible for dealing directly with the public, answering questions over the phone, and entering demographic & medical data into a computer database.
Strong communication skills are required, as this position is required to provide program information, answer client questions, and explain policies.
This position may also be required to schedule / reschedule appointments, and file client records. Applicant should be detail-oriented and be able to multi-task.
Your Specific Responsibilities :
Accurately and within established timeframes registers, client demographic, contact and financial information into the electronic health record (EHR).
Verifies and updates demographic, contact and financial information at each visit to ensure accuracy.
- Verifies appointments and checks clients into EHR, retrieves, files and assembles medical records as necessary, knowledge of service collection and use of service collection tools / documentation.
- Knowledge of financial and billing procedures from all sources (Medicaid, Medicare, managed care plans, Ryan White, etc.
including duties associated with the clinic cashiering position. This knowledge will also include understanding of the locally approved fee schedule and reimbursement knowledge.
When assigned to clinical duties (including specialized clinics) :
Updates EHR as necessary and prepares clients to be sign by provider. Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents adherence questions and updates EHR accordingly.
Informs providers of any known abnormal lab or diagnostic results and informs provider when patients are ready to be seen.
Prepares and maintains exam rooms and ensures appropriate supplies I equipment items are available to ensure clinical service delivery can be provided.
Cleans and / or sterilizes equipment, maintains inventory of supplies, rotates stock, and monitors expiration dates.
High level of expertise related to inputting, processing and retrieving lab orders, results. This also includes expertise in preparing lab orders for patients who receive lab services at designated patient service centers.
Knowledge of medical insurances and contracted labs associated with medical insurance.
- Common duties and expectations for all assigned SCC medical assistants :
- Arrives on time and ready at workstation at assigned time. Informs supervisors of changes in schedule.
- Actively monitors client waiting rooms, exam rooms and clinic flow and updates appropriate staff I clinic managers as necessary.
- Assists in client related phone calls that include but not limited to appointment reminders, and reminders to bring in missing documentation.
Assists in assembling clinic records and condom bags as necessary
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

- Knowing how to find information and identifying essential information.

- Knowledge of OSHA and Safety requirements associated with a lab.
- Skills handling bio-hazardous waste procedures.
- Skills in the use of universal precautions when working in a laboratory setting and / or with other potentially infectious materials (OPIM).
- Ability to perform data entry.

Preheats, cleans, cuts, fits, and welds metal components in the manufacturing and repair of structures, fleet equipment, buildings and other department owned and operated assets.
Operates and maintains a wide variety of mechanized equipment such as automotive, pickups, and vans as required and related to the maintenance and repair of highway structures and facilities, while following safety procedures.
Prepares surfaces and applies protective coatings to manufactured or repaired metal products. Operates met cutting saws, metalizing gun, hydraulic punch, plasma cutter, drill press, all types of welding equipment and other associated tools.
Selects materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for required work and prepares requisitions and price quotes for purchases according to purchasing guidelines.
Purchases parts and supplies as a purchasing card holder and is accountable for proper processing of invoices and completion of required paperwork and work orders.
Unloads raw materials and loads completed products utilizing forklifts and other associated tools.
