Job Title : Medical Assistant 1 Job Summary :

The Medical Assistant 1 assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, obtains vital signs (i.

e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts. May serve as a preceptor for clinical staff.

May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens or swabs obtained for laboratory analysis.

Coordinates patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests and referrals. May triage phone calls, "call-in" non-narcotic prescriptions as per provider's direction and frequently communications with patients and their families.

Works under close supervision of the physician and clinic manager.

Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure :

  • Completion of a medical assistant program or 1 year experience in a clinical capacity
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Computer literate; skilled in use of Microsoft outlook, electronic health records and other software programs.
  • BLS Certification

Job Function :

Patient Care Properly identifies patient by requesting patient name, DOB prior to any patient interactions. Ensures confidentiality of protected patient health information by utilizing safe business practices that support HIPAA regulations.

Completes and documents patient visit notes accurately which may include but not limited to the chief complaint, past medical and surgical history, fmaily history, vital signs, immunizations, allergies, medications, nutrition and health and wellness issues as directed by physician practice and organizational processes.

Accurately and safely administers and documents waived testing under the direct supervision of physician. Prepares, stocks, and cleans exam rooms and maintains supplies and equipment for patient care.

Prepares and administers medications according to physician / physician assistant orders and organizational policies and procedures.

Assists the physician with minor surgical procedures and follows appropriate procedures for obtaining, handling and processing specimens and cultures.

Provides basic clinical care measures to all age groups per clinical skills checklist.

Coordination of Care Coordinates patient flow to ensure physician efficiency includes managing the patient schedule and wait times.

Instructs patient and / or family regarding diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and health / wellness issues using pre-approved forms and information.

Retrieves and sends requested patient health information to authorized individuals in a timely fashion in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies and procedures.

Patients are notified of test results, changes in medications and other alteration in treatment plan as instructed by practitioner within 48 hours of test results.

Medication prescriptions are called into the appropriate pharmacy as ordered by the physician / practitioner per organizational policies.

Diagnostic testing as ordered by the physician / practitioner is effectively coordinated and communicated with other healthcare providers regarding patient care per organizational policies and procedures.

Responds to questions and concerns from patients and / or family in an appropriate manner

Quality Understands and adheres to corporate compliance procedures, accrediting bodies standards and the ethical and religious directives when providing care.

Understands and aware of potential chemical hazards and how to access MSDS information. Understands the correct and prompt actions to take during emergency situations and able to document such events in the electronic safety system timely and effectively.

Participates in quality improvement initiatives including but not limited to gathering and trending data and actively supporting process changes that foster improved quality of care and process.

Observes and adheres to all policies and procedures and follow all safety, quality assurance , and infection control standards.

Utilizes all equipment, supplies, facilities and resources in a prudent and efficient manner in order to ensure efficient departmental operaitons and the provision of high quality health care services Assumes personal responsibilities for continuing education and professional development.

Other Duties as Assigned Uses initiative and actively seeks out ways to assist in the overall operations of the practice to include assisting in clerical duties as needed.

Supports the practice efforts including but not limited to the annual Flu Clinic, job-site projects, community health events.

May assists with clerical duties such as answering phones, filing and preparing charts, checking in / out referrals, maintaining referral database, verifying and confirming benefits, coordinating paperwork for patient needs such as FMLA or back to work / school messages.

Job Title : Patient Driver

Job Summary :

The driver operates 14 passenger vans or smaller. The driver transports Participants to and from their own home to the PACE Center and to Physician appointments.

Prepares and provides appropriate documentation as required. May be responsible for vehicle maintenance and presentation.

The position relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks and works under close supervision

Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure :

5 years of good driving experience : no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years and zero DUI convictions or reckless driving convictions;

periodic motor vehicle / driving record checks may be obtained throughout employment . One year experience transporting individuals with special mobility needs.

One year experience with the frail and elderly population.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and operate handicap accessible vehicles.
  • LA Driver's License

Job Function :

Driving Duties Drives a specially equipped van to deliver physically limited Participants to varied destinations. Assures that wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are properly operated and that participants are delivered to appointments in a timely manner.

Assures that all Participants are in seats and have seatbelt properly fitted and secured. Follows established schedules, adjusts schedules to meet unanticipated changes, determines the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes.

Assists Participants on and off the van in a safe and courteous manner. Deals with medical equipment and other emergencies that may arise.

Takes on added responsibilities of picking up secured medication from the pharmacy as scheduled and will assist in delivery of sealed packaged medications to participant's home.

Vehicle Monitoring / Inspections Inspects van daily utilizing van checklist sheets. Reports the need for maintenance..

Maintains van in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Maintains accurate and time maintenance and repair logs Provides documentation of daily trip logs, mileage and other data required for DOTD monthly reports.

Responsible for safe operation of the PACE Vehicle and is responsible for oversight of keeping the van with adequate fuel, to avoid "running out of gas" while in transport with or without Participants.

Member of the Interdisciplinary Team for PACE Attends staff meetings and takes part in Participant Care Planning. May be required to perform Transportation Assessments.

Communicates any change in Participant condition or household to team members. Completes documentation as required. Demonstrates willingness to assist staff with direct Participant care / activities as needed and as trained, when not driving the PACE Van.

Pediatric Psychologist Job Summary :

The Pediatric Psychologist will work within an interdisciplinary team to evaluate and treat children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, ADHD, Learning Disorders, Autism, behavior disorders, and those associated with complex medical conditions.

Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure :

Completions of a doctorate degree (PhD / PsyD) in clinical psychology preferred, as conferred by an APA-accredited university.

Consideration may also be extended to candidates with a doctorate in counseling or school psychology.

  • Clinical internship (one year) in Pediatric Psychology or related psychology discipline (APA-accredited program highly preferred.).
  • Post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Psychology preferred.
  • PhD / Psy.D. in Clinical or School Psychology from an APA-accredited university
  • Current and unrestricted license (or license-eligible) from the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
