ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATORY ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensure measures from existing and future site operational regulatory requirements are fully implemented, tracked and reported, this includes : Implementing project Special Conservation Measures (SCMs) and Terms and Conditions (T&C) from USFWS Biological Opinion Oversee SCM and T&C program including, implementing, tracking and reporting measures as well as overseeing required biological monitoring work Maintain compliance with Section 106 Programmatic AgreementMaintain site operational compliance plans including Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures PlanAny other applicable environmental-related agreements related to site operations or launch licensing

Flight Reliability Engineer (Starship)

FLIGHT RELIABILITY ENGINEER (STARSHIP)

The Starship Flight Reliability Engineer has the primary responsibility of identifying, documenting, and managing risk for the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles.

This individual will work with design teams, build teams, and operations teams to ensure the best outcome possible on flight and test days for these vehicles.

This role will also work on console to coordinate and facilitate real time risk conversations during major test operations and flights at the orbital launch pad.

Various projects will be assigned that will help reduce or track risks to the program and vehicles.

Preferred location is Starbase, Hawthorne or Cape Canaveral also available (inquire about others). Level of role to be set based on individual’s skill level.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Take ownership of risk tracking for a Starship Vehicle or component (Starship, Super Heavy booster, launch pad, Engine) and manage risk of that item throughout testing and flight
  • Support technical reviews including vehicle state machine reviews (software), joint operations reviews (between ground and vehicle teams), and CONOPs reviews as required to understand and provide feedback to operations
  • Organize and run flight readiness reviews to ensure technical readiness and flight data reviews to track action items and learnings from flight.

Drive actions and findings to completion. Use risk, mission workflow, and change as tools to ensure technical readiness

  • Clearly communicate technical risks to the executive leadership team
  • Real time (on console) support for test and flight as the authority for vehicle risk, communicating to leadership and executive team as required.

Drive on-console resolution of technical risks to achieve successful test or flight outcome

  • Support anomaly investigations as needed via use of tools such as fault trees, fishbones, and 5 whys. Work to resolve anomalies on day of test and launch in real time on console
  • Influence and drive the implementation of process and tools to an appropriate balance for the Starship program, including risk, change, and mission workflow
  • Run projects or tool improvements to help the starship program better manage and understand technical risk
  • Support regulatory and customer reviews as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, math or other technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience with engineering problem solving in design, analysis, or test of systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering field (design, analysis, or test at the large assembly or system level)
  • SQL and / or Python experience
  • High proficiency with basic computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email)
  • Experience with anomaly resolution and documentation of anomaly reports and lessons learned databases
  • Experience with engineering risk management, engineering configuration, and change management
  • On console test experience or support of launch and / or large-scale test operations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work remotely (if working in location other than Starbase) and clearly and concisely communicate weekly progress and roadblocks
  • Self-starter and willing to continuously learn new skills to drive the process and technology of Starship hardware development and testing

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Travel is required to support test and launch operations (if located other than Starbase or Cape), up to 50%
  • Day of launch and lead up to launch support required, night and weekend work will be required based on test and launch schedules

TECHNICAL RECRUITER

RESPONSIBILITIES :

As a SpaceX recruiter, you will run a full desk with a variety of duties and responsibilities focused on the sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of top talent candidates to fill mission critical positions (pun intended).

In many cases, you are candidates’ first encounter with SpaceX and it is your job to represent the company with professionalism, pride, and enthusiasm.

We work in teams and focus on collaboration yet require a high degree of autonomy. So while you are not expected to simply go it alone, you are expected to show initiative, take responsibility, and run with tasks to completion.

Your day-to-day routine will change often as hiring priorities shift, but there is a basic set of activities you can expect to run with daily, including, but not limited to :

  • Meet with your client groups to discuss headcount, new requisitions, hiring strategy, and / or interview feedback you truly act as a partner to your clients and not merely as an order taker
  • Screen candidates who apply to requisitions as the SpaceX name brand grows, our job postings continue to fill up with stellar candidates
  • Source candidates often the best candidates are the ones not actively looking

Hovercraft Pilot

HOVERCRAFT PILOT

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Pilot a mid-sized commercial hovercraft that will carry up to 10 passengers on a commuter route
  • Help lead all aspects of safe operation, navigation, and standards of SpaceX’s hovercraft(s)
  • Lead all planning related to : voyage planning, day-to-day hovercraft operations, and the safety of all personnel onboard, primarily supporting commuter-route piloting
  • Responsible for administrative reports and logbooks according to regulation and standards, and ensuring hovercraft-wide compliance with appropriate programs and standards

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience in an off-shore pilot or captain role
  • Current OR In-Process captain's license (6-pack or above)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Active / current US Coast Guard medical certificate / license

  • Strong mechanical / maintenance skills are preferred with a focus on diesel engines and integrated control / navigation systems

WELDER

Carbon welders in Brownsville, TX will work to build structural and fluid systems to support various testing campaigns in South Texas.

The welders will work with an elite team of other fabricators to rapidly build and weld the large assemblies that will support vehicle and component testing at our test sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Effectively communicate with management / supervisors, engineering staff and planners to achieve build efficiency
  • Collaborate with lead welder to ensure that the proper weld procedure, type of material and rod size are accurately assessed for each welding project
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable
  • Make a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
  • Welding assembly and fabrication on various small to large scale structures and assemblies
  • Check work after completion of each operation in job and / or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner
  • Setup of safety equipment and work platforms at elevation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of experience with stick welding (SMAW) in a manufacturing environment (experience from a college welding program qualifies)
