What you will do :

  • Safe and reliable delivery to customer job sites, industrial locations, and other North Coast branches
  • Daily pre-route vehicle inspections for safety and vehicle readiness using the Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Report
  • Ensure truck is loaded properly, secured, and within weight requirements
  • General warehousing

The Warehouse Associate is a front-line customer service role, interacting with salespersons, customers, vendors, and the rest of the team in the warehouse.

Responsibilities

Picking orders from inventory

Unloading, moving, and storing materials

Utilizing manual lifts, reach trucks and transfer equipment (requires applicable safety and operational training)

Job Summary

  • Attaches identifying tag or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Fabricates and installs racks and shelving as required.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
  • Keeps records of storeroom inventory.
  • Participates in ordering or purchasing standard stock items, such as recommending additions or deletions to standard stock items or ordering replenishments within established procedures and limits.
  • Be courteous in all contact with company customers.
  • Assist in keeping all work areas clean.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Class B License required.
  • Knowledge of safety practices.

JOB SCOPE

DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIES

  • Receives and puts up / stores materials being inventoried in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Checks material in against receiving ticket to assure accuracy.
  • Records damaged or defective materials and immediately reports it to designated team members for proper handling.
  • Fills pick-orders for shipment.
  • Prepares bills of lading for shipment.
  • Verifies outgoing shipments for accuracy.
  • Assists in the general maintenance of the warehouse.
  • Loads and unloads material from truck in an accurate, efficient, and safe manner, utilizing proper body mechanics and proper equipment (e.g., forklift).
  • Assures proper documentation accompanies all material being loaded onto or unloaded from the truck.
  • Greets and interacts with customers in a cheerful and helpful manner.
  • Completes stock checks for the Corporate Purchasing Department as requested.
  • Reports suspicious activities immediately to a member of the management team.

Performs other duties as requested or required to successfully complete the job.

What you will do :

  • Making deliveries to customer job sites, shops, and North Coast locations
  • Daily pre-route vehicle inspections for vehicle readiness using the Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Report
  • Ensure truck is properly loaded, secured, and within weight limitations
  • Filling orders in support of delivery routes
  • Other warehouse duties as assigned

Physical Requirements and Work Environment :

  • Driving delivery vehicle with a GVW up-to 26,000lbs.

  • Safe operation of forklift or other Powered Industrial Trucks
  • Usual 40-hour workweek Mon-Fri; however, based on business needs evening and weekend hours may occasionally be required
  • Requires punctual, regular, and reliable on-site attendance

Salary Range :

  • $38,700 $58,000 Annually

JOB PURPOSE :

Drivers are responsible for delivering products or materials to customer locations and / or job sites. Vehicles driven include stakebed trucks, flatbed trucks and delivery vans;

in addition to forklifts ,that are used to load and offload materials. Drivers will work in the warehouse / yard to pick and prepare orders for delivery and safely load trucks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Deliver orders to customer job sites or other requested locations while adhering to all safety procedures.
  • Load and unload materials and return undelivered material to the warehouse.
  • Notify QA Team and / or Supervisor of materials returned to warehouse.
  • Label items returned to warehouse, noting of disposition i.e re-deliver, cancelled order, wrong material, etc.
  • Check quantities of goods received and obtain proper signatures for deliveries.
  • Transfer materials between Independent Electric warehouse locations.
  • Project a positive company image when delivering directly to our customers.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of deliveries.
  • Care and maintain vehicles through routine inspections. Submit truck condition reports to leadership.
  • Audit assembled items to confirm the accuracy of each delivery using the sales ticket.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations, particularly the hazards encountered with driving a truck.
  • Understand and abide by the Federal Highway Administration Rules and Regulations for drivers where applicable. Maintain driver log according to D.O.T. regulations.
  • Keep accurate records and submit expense reports for reimbursement of expenditures as required.
  • Complete a Pre-Trip and Post Trip DVIR log.
  • Schedule all necessary deliveries and pick-ups of materials and packages for the company using the most efficient and effective means.
  • Assist the warehouse team with projects such as warehouse housekeeping duties, withdrawing merchandise to fill orders, preparing orders, organizing merchandise and stock.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION :

High School diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D)

LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE NEEDED : Entry-Level

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE :

Three to five years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES :

  • Knowledge of electrical goods is important, and the truck driver is expected to acquire this knowledge for the positive identification of delivered items.
  • Maintain a good driving record and be properly licensed.
  • A solid understanding of the local delivery route.
  • Knowledge of branch product lines.
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving practices.
  • Knowledge of Company policies and procedures.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing personnel and work activities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Must be a team player and abide by IES’s strong core values and beliefs.

LICENSES AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS :

  • Valid driver’s license (class A, B, or C) with a clean motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to pass the DOT physical (for applicable driving positions)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand (up to 100% of the shift).
  • Required to routinely lift and handle materials up to one hundred (100) pounds, unassisted.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Climb ladders, squat, and bend.

WORK LOCATION : Onsite

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT :

Typical environments include warehouses, job sites, offices, light industrial, commercial, utility, and manufacturing. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Working outdoors will be required where the associate will be exposed to elements and non-conditioned warehouse spaces.
