Mechanical Engineer

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar required
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar business
  • Prior experience with heavy equipment design and fabrication required
  • Candidate needs to be comfortable with hydraulic control, electric motors, various types of bearings, material grades and material treatments.
  • Strong capability with 3D modeling software is required - AutoDesk Inventor and Vault software preferred.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software required.
  • Experience with processing lines (steel, paper, packaging, etc) is a plus
  • Experience with project engineering - coordination between mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt and function in an environment of changing priorities as design timelines required.

  • 7+ years’ experience in Logistics / SCM and supplier negotiation required; Bachelors Degree preferred
  • HYBRID ROLE (3-4 days per week in North Austin office)
  • Base salary up to $110k DOE plus 15% bonus opportunity and benefits

Position Summary :

Manage, coordinate and execute activities necessary for domestic and international shipments of new-equipment projects and aftermarket orders as required.

To provide logistics support for new bids by owning activities such as reviewing and providing comments on Incoterms and providing budgetary estimates.

To manage the relationships with freight forwarders and shipping companies. To inspect and monitor performance of Logistics vendors and subcontractors.

The individual in this role will be the logistics subject matter expert for the organization with knowledge in areas such as Incoterms, international trade matters related to logistics and compliance with US laws and regulations.

Responsibilities :

This role serves as an Instrument & Control Engineer (I&C) for O&G Production Equipment and will be responsible for engineering and design of instrument & control systems for processing equipment packages.

Work is both technical and hands on in nature and relies on experience and independent judgment to perform the functions of the job.

Other responsibilities include reviewing customer specifications and clarifying scope of work for projects. Reviews and analyzes documentation, materials, and calculations, to ensure compliance with customer, product, safety, quality, and industry standards and requirements.

Set engineering standards and direction focused on continuous improvement, increased efficiency, and cost reduction.

Responsibilities :

  • Support applications / sales team for instrumentation & control design and specifications.
  • Works in close collaboration with engineering and contract management.
  • Owns the technical analysis of customer inquiries, control RFQs, or tenders, to determine proposal requirements, and scope of supply.
  • Communicate directly with internal and external customers, evaluate on-site project conditions during tendering phase.
  • Commercial quotation activities include the development of technical descriptions, cost estimates, project schedules & commercial terms.
  • Works in conjunction with Project Managers / Project Engineers to ensure that project scope of work for equipment package control system design are clearly defined for the project.
  • Finalizes control system architecture for the equipment package and selects control system hardware based on customer specification and project requirement.
  • Reviews customer specifications and prepares technical specifications defining the control requirements on the project for third party control system Design / Manufacturing Company.

Reviews and manages deliverables of the control system to ensure adherence to the requirements of the project.

  • Understands hazardous area classification requirements to finalize, design and layout of the electrical / control instrumentation on a package.
  • Sizes instrument cables, junction boxes, conduit, cable trays and layout of instrument / electrical on the package within the guidelines of Oil & Gas industry codes and standards.
  • Prepares controls schematic, cable schedule, wiring diagrams and logic diagrams.
  • Designs, develops, and debugs PLC based programs and electrical control systems.
  • Provides engineering support to procurement for instrumentation and control systems.
  • Provides support to manufacturing during assembly of the package, inspection, calibration, loop checking, and factory acceptance test (FAT).
  • Provides start-up assistance during commissioning of equipment package at site.
  • Develops operating procedures, acceptance test and validation test plans and protocols.
  • Supports applications engineering on technical issues related to preparation of proposals.
  • Develops engineering design tools and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy of work.
  • Identifies and executes product standardization opportunities and participates in new product development programs.

Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics / Control Engineering required

5+ years Instrument & Controls Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of instrument & controls system design and its application for Oil & Gas process equipment packages.

Experience in programming PLCs, HMI, sequence logic design, PID loop design and implementation.

Technical skills to read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&IDs).

Demonstrate a broad knowledge of industry standards (API, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, IEC, etc.).

Working experience with Burner Management Systems (BMS) a plus

Advanced PC skills including MS Excel and CAD skills
