Roles and Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop and sustain assets / products / kits. Assist in their commercialization and / or field implementation in agreement with project technical and timing objectives as well as applicable industry standards.
- Undertake technical projects as a team member and lead engineer as required.
- Design, produce and analyze mathematical models drawing design conclusions based on those. Examples : FEAs, GRAs, and others.
- Design testing procedures such as factory acceptance tests and qualification tests among others. Conduct tests, document test results and develop client presentation.
- Make presentations effectively to technical and management audiences such as peers, upper manager and clients.
- Provide timely corrective actions on defects and issues found in current and new designs.
- Conduct and / or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, design codes and standards. Ensure commitments are agreed, reviewed and met for participating projects.
- Assign, direct and review work of technicians and provide guidance to new engineers.
- Mentor junior engineers, interns and new team members regarding technical and business systems matters.
- Create and maintain product documentation (requirements, specification, design, development, integration, test procedures and results) following slb internal practices as well as applicable industry standards.
- Continually evaluate engineering approaches and risks to produce and iterate the development plans for projects or new developments of parts.
- Provide training and support to clients and field representatives. Prepare technical documentation through slb internal sharing software / business systems in a timely fashion.
- Share expertise via slb learning tools and expand the informal network throughout the organization : field, research, engineering, manufacturing, other domains and clients.
- Contribute to design standards and support design re-use (best practices, etc.).
- Author / co-author technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations.
- Learn and develop new skills in order to develop innovative and low-cost products that maintain slb's technical leadership position.
- Maintain familiarity with Company technology, organization and business.
- Understand and provide technical solutions according to the slb strategy.
- Complies with applicable company policies', including Personnel, Quality System and Health, Safety and Environment standards and procedures.
- Successfully complete required safety training per internal guidelines and standards.
- Ensure all work is undertaken in a safe manner in line with company health and safety guidelines and standards.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Bachelor / Masters / PHD in Mechanical Engineering.
- 4+ years relevant experience - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem solving ability. - Computer skills to include : SAP (desirable), Office (Word, Excel, etc),
- MathCad, AutoCad and ProE or similar 3D CAD package.
- Have the initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptability / Flexibility. Customer (internal and external) focus.
- Decision Making / Judgment. Dependability. Initiative. SLSS focused requirements :
- Design Landing String Equipment topside and in riser as per current industry standards.
- Perform FEA and design calculations on tubular equipment.
- Hold design reviews and FMECA (Failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis).
- Write test procedures as per current industry standards (API 17G, ISO 13628-7, API 6A, API 5CT).
- Assist in testing of Landing String Equipment.
- Design of New Product for landing strings.
- Sustain current Landing String product files.
- Assist Manufacturing Plant with disposition on deviations and or processes.
- InTOUCH subject matter expert - For SLSS. - Monitor feedback from operations and give feedback as to operation guidelines.
- Write Standard Work Instructions for Landing String Equipment.
- Understand the Rapid response work for SLSS projects.
