Mechanical engineer

Purpose

Researches, plans, and designs mechanical products and systems, and directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical products and systems by performing the following duties.

RELOCATION IS REQUIRED.

Job Responsibilities

Troubleshooting with maintenance mechanics during planned maintenance outages.

Assist in the review and evaluation of proposed new equipment.

Develop engineering studies and reports as required.

Coordinate and manage projects as required.

Provide assistance to production and maintenance as required.

Work with outside vendors and representatives as required.

Communicate project objectives to team members and maintain close contact to coordinate activities with other groups within the departments.

Provide leadership to group to ensure that Company safety goals are met.

Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning related technical issues.

Work in a safe and healthy manner, adhering to all safety rules and practices.

Represent the company's core values of being committed, action oriented, innovative and accessible.

Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors of Science degree in the field of engineering from an accredited four-year college or university

At least 5 years' experience in an industrial environment installing and or maintaining manufacturing equipment

Must be hands working closely with engineering and maintenance teams

Must be self-motivated and able to work flexible hours

Must be able to troubleshoot issues and solve problems independently

Excellent computer skills including knowledge of MS Office Products

Production supervisor

Purpose

Supervises production staff on assigned shift, including operation of casters, rolling mills, annealing furnaces and related machines and equipment.

Supervises packaging of finished product. Responsible for meeting production volume and quality targets / standards through safe, efficient use of resources and materials in production processes.

Contributes to process improvement.

Relocation is required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Trains or delegates training of new employees; monitors progress and provides direction for employee development.
  • Administers Company attendance, leave, and other human resources policies; enters employee timesheets into time and attendance system.
  • Oversees staffing coverage for vacations, call-outs, and leaves.
  • Provides performance feedback; completes performance reviews.
  • Determines priority of problems to be resolved; coordinates planning with Maintenance, Production, Transportation staff, and if applicable, contractors;

ensures staffing of all positions, coordinating with Human Resources.

  • Assists in routine troubleshooting of machines; if not routine operator adjustment or in case of breakdown
  • Periodically reviews status of rolled, cooling, and finished goods inventory; receives notification of failed inspections, coordinates corrected product labelling or other resolution of related problems.
  • Enters data into production control system

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 6 +years of related production supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership skills (conflict resolution, facilitation, change management skills, decision making, empowerment and delegation), preferred.
  • Able to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good planning and priority setting skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
