Job Summary The County of San Diego, Department of Animal Services has an immediate opening for an Animal Services Dispatcher

THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT AT STEP 1, $44,241.60 ANNUALLY.

County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5.

Future Salary Increases

July 2024 5.65% increase to base pay (2.75% Across-the-Board + 2.90% Market Increase)

In addition to the base salary, employees receive :

  • Overtime pay for working County-observed holidays

  • Bilingual Premium, if available

The County of San Diego, Department of Animal Services provides animal sheltering and animal control services for the unincorporated areas of San Diego.

Animal Services has two shelter locations : Bonita and Carlsbad. The department has been recognized for its excellent public service, high integrity, compassionate animal care, new facilities and outstanding team work.

Animal Services Dispatcher's are responsible for receiving requests for service by telephone and dispatching routine and emergency calls to Animal Control Officers in the field regarding state and local animal cruelty and regulatory laws, in addition to other law enforcement animal control functions as well as shelter operations.

Incumbents will work various shifts with mandatory overtime including holidays and weekends.

The Animal Services Dispatcher differs from the Sheriff's Communications Dispatcher in that the latter receives and acts upon emergency and routine calls in the areas of law enforcement, fire, and medical operations primarily concerning people.

As a psychologist with Juvenile Forensic Services you will be providing direct clinical services to youth within a juvenile detention facility.

These services will include psychotherapy, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, case management and consultation, assessments, and mental competency evaluations.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with culturally diverse youth in a fast-paced, dynamic environment such as juvenile detention facilities, acute psychiatric facilities, or residential treatment facilities.
